Located at the end of the Clear Range, this trig offers fantastic views over South Canberra up to Black Mountain, and of course the Naas River below! Now, some of you may argue that the trig is in NSW! However, I will argue that it is on the border!

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

The GC cache wasn't logged for 1.5 years, which means this GA cache was logged even longer ago!
Woooohooo first people to log this trigpoint in 2.5 years. Amazing views and location. Well done and thanks for bringing me here, the owners sound very kind Smile

A nice wander in from the north and after negotiating some rather tough terrain, I found myself and Stormcatchers ???? at the top. A quick selfie, a GC cache and back down following a slightly easier path.

Was out in Namadgi caching with BatGirl and Doppelfrog so we decided to do this on the way home. Followed a track to as close as possible and then took our tired legs to the top. I've lusted after this trig since my first trip to Namadgi caching

Found whilst out wit Noikmeister and Doppelfrog. The trek up this hill was hard after a day in Namadgi but excellent views of the sunset. Now off home!

A rewarding morning walking in Namadgi and had some spare time to do this one on the way back. A short steep climb and were up among the views and the thistles.

374. At last I get up to this TP that has been taunting me everytime I drove along Smith's Rd or Naas Rd. Today with a Winglen in the tank it was time we mopped this pile. Up up and at'em and the peak crested and the cap peaked. Some great views from the top - as usual.

TFTT and the knife.

Visited the trig while grabbing the nearby cache. Great views as usual from a trig spot. Logging my trig finds now as I want to try and grab as many as possible.

Managed a near perfect day for this trig. A great spot overlooking 2 States/Territories.

Coooeeeee - THAT WAS FUN FUN FUN... I posted that note below, then went out the door for the hunt. Parked the car at the old 4WD trail, then walked up the trail and was at the Trig 30 mins later, a pleasant walk along LUSH green grass and a gentle climb.
Fantastic views all around.

History - Back in about 1995, the 4WD track up to here was open and accessible. I Got my old Mountain bike a fair way up here (not to the trig), and there was PLENTY of evidence of WILD parties, fires, burnt stuff and pretty sad living. It was GROSS. A couple of years later, the fence was constructed and rocks put in place and access was NO-GO. There weren't just fences/rocks/signs.
Then along came geocaching in 2001, and way back in 2003 or so, I tried to find a legal way in, but no luck. Along came the GCA Trigs in 2009, again I tried because of the Trig I knew was up there, no luck again. Then TankEngine confirms it is public land, so up I go. Finally - Again. (And I don't have to go up again either!)

Well, I had a good look along most of the length of the North section, and there were no signs at all. Also, from there, there is scrub, trees, and eventually some open ground. However, there is no sign of farm animals (eg sheep or cow pats etc), just kangaroos and rabbits! The bottom fence is in good condition, but other fences after that are falling down, and in disrepair.

OK, That's fine, I can accept that.

I must say though, the brand new fencing, complete with barbed wire is a bit disconcerting though. (AND I seem to recall some "NO TRESPASSING" signs on the Nth East section when I was there a few months ago. Illegal signs????

Will get up there sometime soon now I know its OK, Thanks.

According to ACTPLA, the land east of the Gudgenby river is
"TAMS-VACANT (OTHER) Environment- Unleased" however, land west of the river is private property. See attached pic. So I started from the Angle Crossing road, North of the trig.

The border is not what I dispute, I have tried to get there many times over the years, circumnavigated the whole hill, even spoke to one of the locals, it all seems private property??????

So, where did you park?
How many brand spanking new fences did you cross?

Wow - nice location. Fantastic views. Easy to get too, what more can one ask from a Trig!
