These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

After staying overnight at the Taree Showgrounds we headed off caching and grabbed this trig. Great views !!
TFTC !!
Thanks
Albida
What a great drive up the hill.
Photographed the trig, located a couple of traditional caches and then had a cuppa as a reward, enjoying the view.
A couple turned up while we were searching for the nearby GC cache. He had got his car stuck and they were going to wait HOURS for a friend to come get them. Apparently the temp was already 39 degrees and they only had half a bottle of water. So we gave them a lift down the mountain, which meant gangstella and I got to ride in the tray on the way back down.
Awesome way to spend the morning.
And I only had to walk a few hundred metres from where I left the car.
Thanks pprass!
