A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Headed to Sydney for weekend away with fitzy_1965.

We picked up both GC and GCA caches along the way.

This trig was the first of many for the weekend.

Glad to tick another off the list.

Found at 3:11pm. After finding some geocaching caches my mission was to do some of the Geocaching Australia Trigs so I dragged the girlfriend around and fortunately her phone camera worked quite well and could take my GPS/Camera/phone into the picture but not always was this method used but she should have a picture somewhere. My pics are the trig top with shadow for my device.

#GA405 - 11:05; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. We found a park on the street and took the footpath up to the trig. Nice spot up here and after taking some snaps, wandered down for the GC cache nearby. A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different areas of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. (And have now managed to get my punctuation correct as well). Back in a couple of months for another go.

First of a couple of these ones as well today. Can't miss it that's for sure.

Stopped at this Trig on the way home after stopping at TS Enmore. Easy access from Blair Athol Drive. Trig is in good condition and still has it's name plate. Good views from here.

A quick walk up hill and I took the photo while the kids used the exercise equipment.

Found together with rogerw3 while on an afternoon's trig hunting expedition in the area -- one of 13 trigs I logged in the space of five hours!

Nice walk to the old concrete pedestal on a mild winter's day. Very pretty park.

Vanes gone but name plate intact!

Trig number 3 of 7, and 13 for pjmpjm while trigging for the day. Great location in a lovely park well manicured, and an amazing view of the area.
Only the concrete base is left but the name plaque is still intact.

Easy find in a scenic location. Rode my bicycle over to this TP after stopping in to get some parts from a local bike shop. Very commanding views from here.

There was a cache up here and I noted in my log for it that the..."last time I was up on the hills around here you had to close the gate (down near where ALDI is now) to stop the cows from getting out. WOW...what a difference time makes".

Noted that on top of the marker the "survey" arrow points roughly north. I will have to drag out my old Campbelltown topo maps and see if I can spot any old trigpoints to the north of here.

TFTTH,
Mike.

As I was in the area for the day I picked up a few new ones and a couple of older ones on my way home. I parked on The Kraal Drive and had a brief but strenuous walk up the hill. Of course there are easier trails but I needed the exercise. There's a path and a playground up top and of course an early seventies style trig plinth. Heavily vandalised with etching and the mast and vanes are long gone. However I was impressed to see the plaque "Blair Athol T.S." still in place.
Good one considering.
