SamCarter came across this trigpoint while retrieving a moveable cache that was lurking nearby. Best access seems to be from a dirt track that heads southwest right at the junction of Coalmines Rd and the Great Ocean Road. This dirt track was fine for the GeoSuby, and should be fine for 2WD vehicles with reasonable clearance. Just a short walk to the west of the trigpoint along the road there is a wooden lookout platform, which affords views over the Anglesea power station and the mining area beyond. (The road gets a bit "serious" at this point, so you may choose not to take your car any further!)
Standard GCA information for trigpoint caches follows:
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies. This particular trigpoint was discovered independently and entered manually.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

When we stopped a bike rider appeared and he looked quite surprised to see us up here in this vehicle!!
The vanes are laying on the ground so a couple of pictures have been taken.
The views are getting obliterated now by the trees which is good, as well as the defunct power station being filled in and replanted.

A) We always seek out trig points, or
B) We came here to find the nearby GC cache.
Either way we're glad we came.
YEP, we believed our finding device to give us good directions & it took us the 4WD way instead of the less difficult way! Hmmm ... glad I got to see sky & not the track we traversed on the way up, I think! Going down that first really steep pinch was a breeze for the 'steep descent' mode on the vehicle. I think some local knowledge might have been of assistance to us, but we managed to get up & back with no dramas so all was good. I hope to visit this area with a bit more time to enjoy everything. Thanks for the cache!
I was not in charge of the camera so I took a photo of my team near the beacon, and one of the marker. My team didn't have time for me to take any more photos.
Great views from up here.
+Wife was tempted to nose the GeoPrado over the edge and take a drive down the track.
No problems driving up to the trig and the photo was soon snapped.
Thanks for another trig...
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks SamCarter.
Hmm yep, bit of a walk! Lovely little spot!
Followed the track stated on the trig page and as we drove up the narrow track we nearly took out a rouge cyclist tearing down the hill who just appeared round a sharp corner, we managed to ditch the car to the side to avoid a head-on ..... the cyclist did not even brake or look back as he whizzed past ..... phew.
Back on the track we enjoyed rutted surface to get to the trig, managed to park right next to it to take the necessary photo, we then walked the short distance to admire the great view down towards the power station and the open mine.
We'd parked back down where the track to the lookout meets up with the track that runs parallel to the Ocean Rd and walked the final 200 or so metres.

#170 #10/23 Huge (for me) cache day with lochb and PrincessDiala. Whilst I was at EMU5, I decided to have a pic taken at the trig point as it is very close by. Great views from here. For me it was an easy stroll from the scout camp but PrincessDiala and lochb approached from below. Thanks Sam!
Views of the coalmine from here are amazing, its SO far in the distance, and it looks SO tiny!
Thanks SamCarter for listing this TrigPoint!
Not sure it would have in winter though.
Great views from the lookout.

Didn't attempt the down hill track this time as it has been raining alot and a bit slippery for this road tyre 4WD.
