Description

Beecroft Res TS814R

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Beecroft Res.

Serial number is: TS814R.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 220 metres.

This trig is on top of a water tower on Loftus Road, Pennant Hills - just off Pennant Hills Road. No direct access but photo is possible from the footpath.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Up on the Central Coast catching up with family at Lisarow. After lunch headed to the beach collecting some GC caches as well as some trigs along the way. Caught up with some of our regular caching crew who were also close by this afternoon. A small detour on the way home and another reservoir trig captured - trig number ten for the day.

Found 9:42pm. I was on my commute from Central Coast to Canberra and figured I could drop by this trig and post a find since I hadn't done a daily GCA yet. I had the geodaughter in the geovehicle but she didn't want to get out into the cold. Tonight we were running a little late in our run but it did mean things were quiet when visiting places like this. I had to use my torch to light up the trig on the reservoir and then photo taken by crappy iPhone camera with GPS in foreground.

I thought it was about time I went and checked this one out. Since I was in the area to place one of my GeGnome a slight detour was in order. Very unusual Trig as all the ones I have seen on reservoirs are always mounted in the centre. This one is mounted over the side on its own little platform.

Spotted this one recently and managed to stop and get a photo today. Easy to pull off Pennant Hills Road when the traffic is awful and take a moment to log this trig on Loftus Road. Couldn't find it on the Geoscience website but it's a trig all right. Not sure what to name it.
