Description

 Trig Point on Nevretire

Triangulation Station located just off the main Road from cobar to Dubbo.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We stopped for any trigs within a reasonable drive/walk on our drive from Dubbo to Bourke. We think the trig is at the base of the tower - it does have the connection hardware for survey equipment....

Travelling through Nevertire today enroute for Narromine - stopped off to photograph this one to fill in a blank for my LGA Challenge. Don’t use a GPS much these days so my sunglasses on the fence will have to do.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1477. Found during Day 20 of my epic 21 day visit to Alice Springs for the Red Centre Experience Event and further travels after that.

Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !

Another trig for the trip. We were now heading south and east again, and we managed to get to this trig. Photo taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !

Another trig added to the dragonZone list. I really enjoy finding trigs and also the new CORS that are popping up everywhere !

TFTC !!

Lots of rain in the area so mud everywhere at GZ. Had to take the photo from the road. An interesting name for a town. Thanks.

Found easily when on the road again after a two night stay on the Bogan river at Nyngan.

Quick find while heading south for a holiday. Bit muddy in the area but that just made it fun.

Spotted this on the drive to Nyngan yesterday but left it to the return trip. After the job had time to drive back as far as Warren for the night so stopped for the photo opportunity. Too hard to get GPS and trig in focus at the same time.

South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.

One of Plenty of trigs we saw on this trip. I hope I get the right picture on each trig.

Thanks.
Albida

There were so many trigs on the map, but none that looked like they had easy access from the highway, so we didn't go looking for them. This one however was only a few blocks detour, and at a spot where we really needed to stop & have another break. So I finally got to log a trig for the trip (and another bonus one later much closer to home).

I didn't realise we were looking for a reservoir trig & was looking for something at ground level. bikerbuddy was luckily more alert than me & spotted what we were after.

29-Apr-12
Found this trig on our way back from near Wilcannia. Toriaz had wanted to find a trig while we were driving, but due tothe distance we were travelling and time we had, this was only one of two we managed.

02-Jun-11
