Description

Minto TS3129R

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Minto.

Serial number is: TS3129R.

Last Inspected on: January 23, 1974.

Elevation is: 116 metres.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website. If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Found the Trig Point, took the best/closest photo of it I could, then a selfie of me with the tank/TP in the back ground.
Very windy up here and the going down of the sun being very sharp on the eyes.

#GA408 - 11:50; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. We were able to drive in fairly close to this one for a quick find. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different areas of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. Back in a couple of months for another go.

No problems here and the photos were soon grabbed.

This one can be seen found some distance.

At first I was to close to GZ, wich made it impossible to see the trig as it is standing right in the middle. Then from a bit further it is very well visible!

Doing my rounds of the trigs in the area and spotted this from afar when driving along Eagleview Drive. Of course if you get too close you can't see the trig so I tried one from further away and one from a bit closer. A drive by!

04-Dec-10
Yep, about the only spot you'll see the trig from. May be a bit outside the 50m for a photo but you can get well within that distance without a photo.

Great rolling green hills around here and I too have a shoddy camera in my phoen, so with the rolling hills and all.

Was on my way to another cache and looked up and saw this trig. Now my phone hasnt a great camera, and to get the trig in the photo I had to take it from far away. The co ordinates will be some way off but if you look up you will see it
