Description

At an altitude of 420 metres you get a comanding view of the valley below.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

This TrigPoint requires you to drive up a fairly steep grade, but it can be done with a 2wd in dry conditions.

A trig station typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Clan MinotaurClan MinotaurClan Minotaur one of several trigs we found whilst exploring the area.

What an adventure this was finding our way here. Drove along Rollover Rd to within 100m of trig, road now blocked by bollards at that point. Walked the rest of the way and snapped our pic. Enjoyed the views and tracks along the way.Clan MinotaurClan MinotaurClan Minotaur

went looking for trigs from a different angle today. sadly couldn't make this one out, but decided to 'note' it to share the photo i got whilst trying to see it. i have to admit i was a little distracted with the awesomeness of the bluff to look for the trig point properly.

We have been wanting to get upto the Bago Bluff for years and today we had an afternoon free, so we started to explore the area. After a few wrong tracks we found an easy way to the top and what fantastic views. This is a fantastic spot.

1135 Yep, found the map with the note, found and photographed with Nic, back in 2006. I'd already had the Foretrex for a few years, and had just bought the Byabarra (9434-4N) 1:25,000 map, and we went off to check out some of the 'high points' from when we were camping at Swans Crossing.
This was found as GR66931354.
I agree with the 3½ Terrain rating.
While some of the road to there is within Broken Bago State Forest it is 'a shame' that the trig is within Bago Bluff National Park, or there would be geocache there for sure!!!
Must get back and get some more photos when I have a better camera, as the photos taken then have well and truly disappeared off the computers in the meantime.
