A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A trig that we go past a lot. nice to finally get a photo and put a log with it.
good to get a couple ticked off in the area, and a really simple park and grab which was nice considering that the weather wasn't amazing today.

The team was out today on a little road caching trip to celebrate our 4000th GC find, so headed down the Putty Rd and into the Blue Mountains. We managed a handful of trigs as well as poising ourself at 3999 for the main event (in the rain it seems) tomorrow....
No snakes for us today.... an unusual trig, painted red....

#GA2286 - 13:30; When the States of the Nation game began, a plan was hatched for a group of ACT cachers to take a trip north to the Hawkesbury on a scavenger raid. As time passed the group's numbers dwindled, but with a bit of work solving puzzles and a few things rescheduled, our merry band comprising andrewbt, Sol de lune and I set off on a damp Canberra morning to try our hand. A recent visit to Canberra by cachers from this area provided an added incentive, so we could repay the karma points we gained from their visit. A successful day it turned out to be with 56 finds and only three DNFs. Another trig stop as we wound our way through the region. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out with Team Merlin finding a few local GA trigs. Photo captured and onto the next.

24-Feb-16
Out with JJCC doing a cache run around the area picking up two GC traditional caches, six GA trigs plus another two GA DNFs. We have passed this location on many occasion, but today we pulled into the driveway and made our way up towards the water tower. Positioning ourselves for a clear view of the trig we took several photos before continuing on our journey.

I often drive past this location on Kurmond Road but notice without a walk up the drive it is obstructed by trees. Today I was in Wilberforce and walked around finding myself on Earl St which gave me a different unobstructed view across paddocks, So I took my happy snap with a smart phone using both the front and rear camera's simultaneously. Hence my mug is seen on the main shot of the Trig point

Spied this trig on the way up to Grey Gum Cafe on the Putty Road this morning. Made sure I stopped on the way back to claim the find. An interesting old water tower.

24-Apr-11
Found the access road up towards the trig. Easy to get a shot of the trig

27-Feb-11
Our third & final trig on this trip. Coming from Wilberforce initially we couldn't spot this one from the road, but on the return trip back from from Freemans Reach it was easy to spot.

Drove up the road to get a better look, hoping that it wasn't a private driveway. There were people out the front of the nearby house, but they seemed attached to the second driveway & didn't pay any attention to us.

19-Feb-11
Our 12th trig on a hot day of trigs this required a little detour along Kurmond Rd and up the driveway. Is that house an office? Got the shots and got out, a nice tall water tower.

19-Jan-11
It was very easy to find and photograph this bright red trig, on top of the smaller of two reservoirs, on my way to work from the Blue Mountains.

It's located about 150 metres off Kurmond Road, and to get even closer you can drive up the Water Board driveway to a locked gate, from where the trig is quite visible.

I leaned over the fence a bit to clear the nearby trees and got quite a reasonable shot. (Will upload the actual photo later today, when I get it off my iPhone camera.)

As I was leaving, two Water Board trucks trundled up the narrow driveway and I got right off to the side and gave them a cheery wave. They just kept going. I hadn't trespassed or done anything illegal but wondered if they had questions in their minds about why someone was on their driveway so early in the morning.

01-Dec-10
This one was part of my wet Wednesday drive around. Could almost drive up to it, after I thought it was going to be a zoomed photo!?!

FTF Razz

After completing I few Trig sites around my general area, I checked to see if any had been missed and this one had not been identified on GCA.

Cheers.... GazMag
