A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

good to get a couple ticked off in the area, and a really simple park and grab which was nice considering that the weather wasn't amazing today.
No snakes for us today.... an unusual trig, painted red....
Lovely red Trig on the tall reservoir tower, seen from a long way.
Drove up the road to get a better look, hoping that it wasn't a private driveway. There were people out the front of the nearby house, but they seemed attached to the second driveway & didn't pay any attention to us.
It's located about 150 metres off Kurmond Road, and to get even closer you can drive up the Water Board driveway to a locked gate, from where the trig is quite visible.
I leaned over the fence a bit to clear the nearby trees and got quite a reasonable shot. (Will upload the actual photo later today, when I get it off my iPhone camera.)
As I was leaving, two Water Board trucks trundled up the narrow driveway and I got right off to the side and gave them a cheery wave. They just kept going. I hadn't trespassed or done anything illegal but wondered if they had questions in their minds about why someone was on their driveway so early in the morning.
After completing I few Trig sites around my general area, I checked to see if any had been missed and this one had not been identified on GCA.
Cheers.... GazMag
