Description

Official Code: TS7289R, Name: Young Silo

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.

Today was heading from Condoblin to home via Parkes, Forbes and Young. Quick park and snap.

With a day off and time to spare before the next thing I have on, I decided on doing the caching trail that goes: Temora, Young, Murringo, Boorowa, Yass and back home through Harden. Big Grin This trail and picking up some new thongs from ‘Rivers’ lead to a great day out. I started the day with the new tree climb in Young which has been on the Sad list for quite some time and then picked up some trigpoints which has been on my to-do-list for quite some time. After this I went to ‘Rivers’ and then headed out to my next stop which was the mystery cache in Murringo. Next were the caches in Boorowa, Yass for lunch and then head home via Harden. I would like to thank all CO’s for placing the caches I found and for the enjoyment they brought me today. Big Grin

Started at Bathurst bright and early for a bit of a trip down south, have a few trigs picked up to go after, got a relaxing trip as have to be back home on Saturday see how far I can go & how many trigs I can get photos of on the trip. This was the second stop on the second day was at a silo in Young and took the required photo once I found a spot to shoot from. Thanks for the trig Geocaching Australia. Hopefully there will be a few I can get closer on the trip. Around my way don't see many silos with trigs. Clan Phoenix

On a return from tenting at Temora for a few days ...

No problem sighting this trig, very prominent upon the skyline on a drive through Young ... a quick roadside park and photo ... Excellent vanes, with the rows of 'holes' clearly defined with a sky background.

Found 1:53pm with LuckyL10n. I was out on a caching run with LuckyL10n and his partner and friend. We were doing a large loop to grab GC and GCA caches and trigs. The trig was fairly easy to spot, although t think I've never seen one on a silo before. Grabbed a photo, we kidded with the ladies that we had to climb the steps to get up to the trig for the photo only to set them straight a little later.

#GA690 - 13:50; I had sown the seed yesterday with the geohoney that we should go for a Sunday drive through the local countryside and perhaps collect a cache or two along the way. An itinerary was then hastily arranged and the geohoney's friend and MrDamage confirmed for the tour. We had picked up a few caches by the time we reached Young, including the trig near Boorowa, which saw MrD and I get a little damp. It was nice to reach Young for a couple of easy drive bys, starting with this one. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

WanderingAus wandered by on day 113 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, making our way from Darwin towards Perth via Mount Isa, Townsville, Emerald, Goondiwindi, Gunnedah and Wentworth.

After setting up the caravan at the Young Caravan Park and having the obligatory cup of tea we headed in to town to stock up on supplies. The WanderingMrs spotted the Big W store so we took a visit to that first, and as I walked back to the car I spotted the trig on top of the silo - TomTom had failed to alert me to it's presence because I accidentally turned off the sound.

We crossed the road to Woolworths, and I pulled out the big gun camera with it's 18 times optical zoom and took the requisite photo, not a lot different to my usual 5 times zoom camera. Then I zoomed in a little and took a closeup shot.
