Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Hawkesbury LO.

Serial number is: TS10365.

Last Inspected on: July 18, 1977.

Elevation is: 221 metres.

This poor unkept trigpoint is located atop the Hawkesbury Heights Lookout, just beyond the safety fence. The plaque is gone, the top cap has been stolen.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

12-Feb-22
I was out for a caching weekend with Mighty Minions, Banj5150 and Team737, starting with a bunch around Kurrajong before heading up into the mountains. On the way to Winmalee we stopped at the lookout for the trig and the nearby GC cache. The dark clouds to the south-east proved to be a forewarning of the heavy rain that was to follow us all the way to Katoomba. Many thanks for the trig listing.

The team was out today on a little road caching trip to celebrate our 4000th GC find, so headed down the Putty Rd and into the Blue Mountains. We managed a handful of trigs as well as poising ourself at 3999 for the main event (in the rain it seems) tomorrow....
What a great spot - we'd never driven up this way, fun drive too. The trig commands a great view over the area...

Took the motorbike out for a spin and this seemed like a good one to stop in without having to walk to far in my gear. Good to see this one still in such good condition ( all be it without it’s mast and vanes) I think I also managed to find the old lead plug that is outlined in the sketch map to. nice and easy one thanks. Lovely view from here. TFTC.

14-Feb-18
Stopped here while on a caching run from Yarramundi to Springwood to catch the view and to grab a GC cache. It was missing, but when I saw the obelisk at the lookout, I took a pic of it in case it housed a GCA cache ... which it does! A consolation smiley for me!

25-Jan-18
After visiting a friend at Winmalee drove to the lookout to find the trigs. This one was easy to spot. Took the photo with GPS and trip Mascot. This is a local area for us and it was amazing to see how big the Penrith Lakes are now. We remember it when it was farmland. TFTC

27-Dec-17
Grabbed photo while in area for Christmas. I used to visit this lookout all the time while growing in Springwood.

Found this Trig with Team Merlin.

My wife brought me here as it is one of her favourite places to visit and noticed this Trig Point.

13-Mar-15
This one was quite obvious, but I'm curious about the other one...not that I'm the type to jump a fence at a lookout!

07-Dec-14
Not sure which trig point remains this teferred to but I found them!

20-Jul-14
With flat batteries in the backup camera I then tried to get a shot here with the mobile phone. Will now need to work out how to get the pictures transferred to this site.
Have been here a long time ago, when cameras had film.

Was at location scanning the two local munzees when I noticed this was the base of a trig. Took a photo intantly. TFTT.

29-May-13
Unsure of the rules, still, there seemed a good enough reason though to not cross the barrier to hug this trig. Last view of the lakes below there was but a patch of earth being bulldozed. Filling and well taking shape now.

23-Jan-13
park and grab

18-Jul-12
I've often been at the lookout and passed by, since I live in Springwood, but today I finally stopped to log this trig. There really are great views from here.

Found with the Geobikiechick on an early morning ride to Glenbrook for breakfast.

14-Aug-11
Thanks to pjmpjm doing the driving duties, I finally managed to get to this elusive Trig, just out of walking range for me!
It seems to have been freshly painted white and it stands out quite nicely. The mast and vanes are long gone as is the name plaque.

Found this trig while caching through Winmalee. Great views to the lakes and Castlereagh

13-Mar-11
We were out doing other caches and thought it would be good to get an extra cache here. Great view! There was a lot of people stopping and looking at the view. I am surprised that the place can be so busy. Good spot for a picnic too!

27-Dec-10
Could'nt resist a quick DBT on the way home from "Daylight" via Richmond with Spindoc. Pulled up to a lot of fog but enough of a view to appreciate this is definitely worth the stop. On a clear day this would be a top spot. Light showers around so we quickly took some snaps and headed back to the ute.

27-Dec-10
Nice easy to find trig with a great view, even on a foggy day.

28-Nov-10
Grabbed this one on dusk, driving home from watching our football team get flogged!

26-Nov-10
Stopped by this well-known panoramic lookout just before dusk, on my way from work back to the house in Leura. I've driven by the place hundreds and hundreds of times, and sometimes enjoyed the excellent view, but never noticed the trigpoint!

A middle-aged couple was standing right at the crucial place by the fence, drinking wine. I stepped up beside them and said, "Hi. Good evening. I've just got to photograph this thing." They returned my greetings pleasantly and watched with some mystification as I held out the old yellow eTrek and snapped away on my iPhone camera!

Task completed, I headed on my way -- another cache logged!

It was a nice view, but I didn't think I'd stay longer. I had a glimpse of the new Castlereagh Road development below.

Thanks, GazMag!

"Three Thumbs Up" for a great view.

25-Nov-10
I found this one last Saturday (while doing the nearby Watch the Traffic), but was too lazy at uploading my photos. Fabulous views from this lookout.

FTF Razz

While doing the Location less cache, "Cache-cache" I spotted this poor old Trig Point just outside the safety fence.

Tks .... GazMag
