A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The rain had mostly stopped by the time we finished lunch so we went for a walk to this trig point.
A very cool walkway, though Mum found it a bit scary at times with the height and slight tendency to sway.
The trig point is in great condition with name plate and little signs of rust on the vanes. I wonder if Newcastle council puts some resources towards maintaining them, because all the trig points we've found in the area seem to be above average condition wise.

This makes it a flat walk whereas before I think it might have been a bit of an uphill hike to this one.
Noticed that no dogs were allowed on the walkway and was amused to see one muggle carrying her dog along the walk!!!
Great views from the walkway too.
Thanks.
Caching in the area we came across this trig and snapped the required pic which is added to the gallery..

There is a nice stairway up here, connected to a WW1 memorial walk. It all seemed pretty new, but certainly a lovely walk and incredible views.
Nice views here.
Anyway, I got "Half way up a cliff" and this one while in the area.
I did find a ?Laptop? in an old style ex-army disposals satchel, which I took to the local police station - initially thought that it was the cache that I was looking for!
Great views up here, and was surprised that there was so many people coming up for look. Took a photo for a couple of young girls near the trig. Did a bit of CITOing, and asked a couple who had just come up if they could help me, and they carried a couple of bottles each, while I had my arms full!
Well this almost proved my undoing, please do not follow my example. I was coming from Fort Scratchley and decided to walk from the Strzelecki Lookout and down Shepherds Hill Reserve, it start easy enough although perilously close to the 50 metres cliff but then you have to negotiate a couple knife edge no more than 30 centimeters wide and very slippery and today I had to contend with gusty wind as well. So waiting for the wind to die down and quickly make it across the short 2 meters but for me terrifying with my fear of heights not quite sure how I made it across!
In the end I got to GZ and the Trig and found the easy track and stair going down to Memorial Drive!
The Trig is in surprisingly good condition only the name plaque is missing.
Well worth the walk up.....TFTT
What a fantastic view even at night with the city lights and the ships out at sea.
The iPhone doesn't have a flash so the only illumination I had was a small torch.
ACBC 66 and I found the GC Cache Bar Beach Trig on 10 July 2010. Finally found the photo we took to claim the GCA cache. Great views from up here !
TFTC !!
Views are still magnificent!
