A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We were on our way home from a weekend in Mittagong/Bowral and Goulburn. Samuel was keen for a pretty cool D1/T4 cache over the M5, convincing me to leave the motorway for it as - there is a trig there for you too! No more convincing needed.... Nice trig too....

#GA411 - 12:30; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. This was a nice quick find after traipsing through the jungle for our last find. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different areas of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. Back in a couple of months for another go.

No problems here and the photos were soon grabbed.

Cerberus rules here. ClappingVery HappyClan Cerberus

Easy to get to, easy to spot, hard to get a good photo with the basic camera in the phone, as I had forgotten the good digicam.
ah well.
1 traditional and 2 trigs, that's enough in the rain for today.

Found together with rogerw3 while on an afternoon's trig hunting expedition in the area -- one of 13 trigs I logged in the space of five hours!

We parked at Box Road and walked a bit until I got a good view.

Not hard to photograph, really. It's visible from a great distance, but I wanted to get as close as possible.

This was my second Trig for my afternoon's trigging from Casula Railway Station. Not much chance of missing that one, always nice to see such a nice red (well almost!) set of vanes on a Trig.
Best seen from Box Road which is the obvious place to go for.
