Description

No metal disc on this trig, but it is a trig! The scenery here is quite special.

We discovered this trig station during our adventures on the Havoc Barrington Tops event.  A lovely spot which on the day was calm and serene.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

ps: If anyone has any better co-ords, please post them.

beautiful spot, I had been camping nearby so popped up to the dam for a look.

Had a great visit to the dam today. First time since primary school.

My sports team was called Chichester and named after this area. Pulling up there today I recalled chanting the sports team cry upon my first visit. I bet I was that f-ing annoying child to everyone visiting there, repeating it over and over loudly because I was so exited and didn't think about other people back then. Hahaha

Found a cache and this trig and watched the water flooding over the wall. Was awesome. Here, have a dodgy photo as proof I was there. Abs why not a couple more for memory sake.

Very quiet place today and very hot!

Considering I was staying just up the road I figured I'd take a quick walk down and have a look. Given the rainy weather it was fairly quiet down at the dam, unlike the last time I was down here. Its quite an interesting place, well worth exploring.

08-Jun-15
A quick detour today with the gates open at the time we were driving by. We even got to hear the sirem at 10am.

We luckily found this after taking the wrong way to the GC cache as noone had the co-ordinates loaded!?!

07-Jun-15
We came out to look for the nearby GC cache, and found this cache as a bonus. Canary was leading the way, and luckily noticed the snake sunning itself on the concrete. We stayed at the top of the stairs until it moved away, then gingerly made our way to the trig for bikerbuddy to take a photo of us.

0835 Found this trig labelled as CONNORS, tho I had already 'found it' when I was in the area the first time when I was looking for "Lookout Dammit".
However, I did expect it to be another trig (Henning) that I had seen on SIX Map NSW.
I went to the Office but was told I was unable to go and check out where Connors was shown to be. There is also a trig on the other side of the dam wall (Dusodie), but obviously that is unreachable for the general public.

Argh here it is! Been waiting for this to show up on my map Very Happy Found as part of the HAVOC Crew last week at the Barrington Tops camping event. A great dam full to overflowing and top views from up here. Worth the effort to drive down plus there is a normal cache nearby too!

05-Dec-10
Found this one with the remainder of the HAVOC crew after a weekends camping in the area. There was a heap of water going over the dam today.

04-Dec-10
Found this whilst visiting the nearby GC cache Lookout Dammit. A great spot to view Chichester Dam.

We were looking for "Lookout Damit" when we came across this trig station. Very convenient rather than having to drive/walk hundreds of metres up a mountain.
