Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ and to photograph it.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access. This one 'just' needs permission from the land lessee for access.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Lookout.
Serial number is: TS2891.
Last Inspected on: December 23, 1975.
Elevation is: 64 metres.

This poor trig has seen better days, lucky they are concrete!
This trig can’t get any easier than this one. A drive by with a very short walk to GZ. Have completed trigs that you can park your car next too but I believe in this area it will be very hard to complete - thanks
Found after work today during a work trip up in the Penrith region. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especially the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !
The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted. Took longer to navigate in than to find it !!
Thanks Geocaching Australia !
An easy find, this kind of stands out right under the power lines, heavily graphitied unfortunately and the name plaque has been souvenired. Still an interesting view from here.
Now on to the next one!
Boy the locals have had fun smashing bottles on this one!?!
