Serial number is: TS2791R.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

I had a moveable cache called "school" with me and I considered hiding it somewhere near one of my old schools as I was passing through the area. In the end I didn't really want to drive out of my way to either so stuck to the (current) city bypass and stopped to hide it here. Picked up the trig find whilst here obviously.

On the way home from the Newcadtle showground we took a slight detour to find this trig. We couldn't see it at first, but then we noticed the smaller reservoir situated behind the large reservoir. Like most of the trigs in the Newcastle area this was still in great shape.

No issues with the neighbouring dog for me today. Don't be fooled by the big reservoir...go behind!

We drove up and parked at the boom gate.
The dog next door wasn't very happy about us being there though!!
Thanks.

#GA2654 - 11:05; Day three of the 2018 Oz Geomuster mission with Sol de lune. After a day hitting the geoart trail put out for the muster with Sdl and albida33 yesterday, today was all about finding GCA caches and perhaps picking up a dragonZone or two in the process. The plan for the day was to start in Morisset (naturally enough), work our way around Lake Macquarie and in to Newcastle, then on to Maitland and Abermain before heading back to camp. There had been a change of plans when there was a heavy overnight fog which left our tarps quite wet, so we decided to hit the trail, then return to camp to collect our swags once things had dried out later in the day, before heading for points north. We had finished collecting trigs around the lake and were now in the suburbs headed towards Newcastle. Dropped by and grabbed a snap or two of this reservoir trig as we passed. Day three of an Easter trip with LuckyL10n to the 2018 Morisset Mega. Headed up via the northern beach suburbs of Sydney to grab a few trigs and dragonZones along the way. From there it was a trip around the lake to find a good assortment of trigs. A great day out while heading further north.

No problems with this one and the trig was soon spotted.

Another trig and another dragonZone crossed off. Thanks for the fun....

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1007 - 9812 overall cache finds.

Found during a caching run around the Newcastle region. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

This one was a nice quick 'find' and a photo taken and posted.

I was near here today with my sister to do the Color Run. We saw the reservoir on our way to the race & wondered if there was a trig. So we looked before heading home, confirmed there was indeed a trig here & made the detour to take the required photos.

Then we headed over to the nearby GC cache, for our first traditional find for the day.

Could hardly call this a surprise when the other cache here is called Lookout Trig but it did take a minute to find it.

I had Blackbut Trig on my list of caches to find for Geosportz (needing a cache with a colour from the olypics rings in the name), so I rocked up today, turned the GPS on and walked around to trig then looked at the GPS to see the caches name had been changed thus changing my Geosportz plans.

Just arrived here in time for a picture before it became too dark.
Surprised to see the old water tower with the trig point still in good condition.
