almost a drive-by!

Headed up to Katoomba after doing Blue Mountains trig at Lawson.
Then for a drive along Narrow Neck Plateau Trail and headed to this trig. Considering how close to the trail it is, it was well hidden by bush. Found a pull off to park the car, then walked with a bit of pushing through some scrub and arrived at the trig. TFTT

Decided to walk here from the golden stairs didn't seem t g at far at the time. Didn't take in to consideration the ascent required to get there. In the end I could've driven took a photo with my walking pole and the vanes on the ground beside it. Thanks for bringing me here.

Parked at the top of the Stairs - thinking the gate was there - and walk up the road ... and with no real parking on the stretch where the trig is situated probably for the good. A short bush scramble with a poorly defined 'track' to the weathered Kure, with name plate intact - but mast and vanes aside on the ground. A windless sunny Autumn afternoon, it seemed appropriate to place the mast/vanes upon the plinth for a few moments of Kure's past glory. At least it is all there, unvandalised, and in a quite lovely patch of fresh and sparkling bushland.

Picked up this one on a ride to the end of Narrowneck. Great day for it.

I parked at the Golden Stairs and walked the short (steep) distance to the trig. Gorgeous autumn morning with fresh, fragrant air. Snapped the trig then started walking down Narrowneck (and Tarros Ladder, Medlow Gap and Mt Mouin - regrettably no sign of a trig at Mouin - 31km round trip).

Found with bisygisy, accompanied by rogerw3, after the Narrow Neck Mini Event. The vanes and mast are lying on the ground and one of the mast bolts has snapped and is frozen in the instrument mount. Little paint remains. The namplate is unusually brief, just "T.S. KURE".
rogerw3 supported the mast to show us how it once was.

Third trig sighting for today. I found my first ever GCA cache and trig today too. Was on the Narrow Neck mini walk which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was our last trig for today. Went on to do a few GC caches as well.

I went for a walk along Red Ledge pass this morning, then went for a little trig hunt on the way back. The mast is lying on the ground next to the base.

21-Aug-11
Another trig picked up on our walk out along Narrow Neck. Trig in good condition and surprised more people haven't logged it as it is so close to a road.

A needed a Friday aftrnoon cache fix.

I found a "Kure".

A quick drive down Glenraphael Drive in Katoomba and then a very short walk on a little trail, and there is was -- just off the road but high up over an embankment, pretty much hemmed in by the growth of trees and bushes. I'd been driving by this one again and again for years and never knew it was there.

Plaque is in place on the concrete pillar and the trig seems to be in reasonable shape overall, except for the black paint peeling off the vanes.

Great to find another one so close to home. Nice views towards the Megalong Valley between the trees from GZ and of course spectacular views from thousands of nearby places on Narrow Neck.

Many thanks for your discovery efforts, rogerw3!

This was the first of a triad of Trigs on the Narrow Neck Plateau. Kure, Castle Cliff and Narrow Neck, the first two being virgin trigs. Don't know why they have not been logged before.
In any case for my 500th GCA find I decided to make it a Virgin trig and this is it, it is pretty much a drive by with only minimal bush bash as there is still a track of sorts there.
The view is now somewhat obstructed by trees, but I guess that when it was set up this spot would have been bare.
