A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

The second one I looked for was Hamley
Thanks for the trig took the required photo
The trig is still complete and even has its nameplate.
Interestingly the 1975 survey shows a 1.94m mast with 91cm vanes. Barely 18 months later, the mast was 1.54m with the 76cm, holey vanes it now has. In December 1980, the surveyor noted "At the time of my visit there was (sic) heaps of sandstone filling and earth laying around the station, this is for use in Adjacent Caravan Park building program and will be moved Approximately early 1981".
Before the cutting was put through for the Pacific Highway, the highway ran right next to the trig, between it and PM30171D, which was about 20m SE of the trig. A remnant of that road is visible on GE at S33 38.283 E151 08.700 where it crossed the railway line and followed the line on the east side before crossing back into what is now Beaumont Rd.
I think that the trig may actually be in better condition these days tho! Found @ 1650.
A nice old trig to find and the last of the day.
Nice black vanes -- in reasonable shape (slightly rusted)-- an intact side plaque that identifies the trig by name, and a proper top plate sitting on top of the concrete pillar. And no graffiti whatsoever.
Perhaps the builders of the new housing estate where it sits have recognised that it's a plus for the residents to have this trig sitting nearby, adding a bit of historical interest!
It's located very near the new housing, but on a kind of 'nature strip' between Preston Way and private property. You can reach it easily and get 'up close and personal' with it.
Photos follow this evening . . .
I still prefer the Trigs on the ground!?!
Very happy to see it still in one piece!
