A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

It was tricky to see this trig, but spotted it in the end. TFTC.

10-Sep-17
nice evening and sunset colour blue sky.

I love how easily you can park at this, especially when you've got a pinched nerve in your back that takes out your knee! Had to cross the road for the photo though. Smile

Found while out geocaching with the kidlets.

A nice little spot with a goo park nearby.

This was the last of a good, long day of caching. Love trigs.

06-Aug-16
Found late in the day so only ended up with the silhouette of the trig on top of the water reservoir. A nice easy find on the top of the nearest tank. Took the photo as required. Thanks for the trig

1908, 9/1/2016 A long time between 'Finds' (for me), as the last time I photographed this reservoir trig was back on Saturday, 20/7/1985.
Nice to see that not too much has changed here.

03-Jan-16
Finally I came through Engadine on my bicycle and got this one. Two towers, one with a trig on top of it.

29-Jul-15
Grabbed this one while in the area......

All good.

13-Feb-15
No great problem finding this one, it does stand out on the edge of the reservoir.

12-Jan-15
Pulled in for a quick trig duo on the way home from Stanwell. Hard to get a shot on this one!

20-Jan-14
Easy to find hard to get a good picture, across the road was best.

11-Sep-11
Not unexpected but strange to find two trigs in such a small area! It is actually hard to spot the red trig on top of the reservoir!

Third trig for the day. Short walk from Engadine station, an easy photo.
An unexpected find in front of the reservoir "Bottle" Trig Station!

17-Jun-11
A short detour on the way to pick up a bunch of used DVD discs for a craft day had me at this cache, though getting a good clear pic was more challenging than I expected.
Trig #3 of 5 for today.

05-Jun-11
After the WWFM Bacon and Eggs cache at 3am, it was very early morning and I just managed to snap this in the light that was available. Very close to the road this one.

14-Mar-11
My second trig of my Shire work expedition. A bit easier to get a decent shot of this one. Took it from down the hill over the doctors. The previous log indicates a better spot though.

25-Jan-11
After finding a bunch of trigs atop water tanks in the Blue Mountains I must have looked a little more closely while driving to the shops yesterday...Back today to see if I could see what I thought I saw...It was! A FTF on a red trig on the local water supply.

Parking is easy nearby, and there's a very pleasant park for younger kids across the road.
