A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

#GA4933 - 12:40; Out on a leisurely drive through the Northern Beaches with the geohoney and stopped to snap a few trigs as we passed. Sadly this reservoir has been "refurbished" and the old trig has disappeared Sad TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Found whilst in the area doing a trig hunt

Things have changed here. The trig from previous photos/logs is no longer there. Great views from up here though.

Tank where the marker is was being worked on and there was no roof on it, hence no marker to be located so took a photo of the tank with no roof.

In the 4 years since this trig was last logged the mast has fallen over. It's still visible but looks somewhat undignified.
Found at 2:28 PM.

Yet another trig found with rogerw3 on our major trig hunting expedition around Barrenjoey, Palm Beach, Newport, etc.

We couldn't miss this one!

It would be great to get this view of other reservoirs. We were almost looking down on it from where we parked in scenic Bilgola.

The light was fading but we still achieved pretty good photos.

My iPhone camera isn't great even under perfect conditions.

Another trig in a lovely place.

Trig number 7 for the day's Trig hunt with pjmpjm. An easy one this one, can't miss it, the trig looks in great condition but could use a coat of paint!

I could almost have got up to the cache today, the gates were open, but I decided against entering (there were workmen there too).
Had to snap the pic in increasing rain then bolt back to the relative safety of a dry ute.

This is a nice and easy find. At the end of Wollombi Road there is a driveway to the tanks and the entrance to a nature walk. Of course being Sydney Water there are all sorts of "None Shall Pass!" types signs which you can safely ignore. They mean jumping the fence at the bottom as the track goes around the outside. Anyone looking for GC cache 'Tanks' can log this. A nice red trig on top of a water tank. We could see it from 'Bushranger' trig.
Good spot.
