Description

Ingleburn TS5061R

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Ingleburn.

Serial number is: TS5061R.

Last Inspected on: August 8, 1975.

Elevation is: 99 metres.

The trig was spotted on Google Earth. It is on top of the large water tank on Maserati Drive in Ingleburn. Probably visible from further away.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Looks like work has been completed.
The tower out front probably has the Trig Point on it so now time to log this TP.

Driven past this TP a few times lately & unable to actually see the TP dish.
Looks like they are doing some maintenance on the structure at the moment, heaps of scaffolding and ladders and stuff.
Will keep an eye on it.

#GA409 - 11:55; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. Another one where suburbia is encroaching! A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different areas of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. Back in a couple of months for another go.

No problems here and the photos were soon grabbed.

Found together with rogerw3 while on an afternoon's trig hunting expedition in the area -- one of 13 trigs I logged in the space of five hours!

Photographed from Collins Promenade. Easily seen on top of the reservoir.

Found this trig while in the general area picking up a Gnome, the best view is from the Collins Promenade. Nice red trig, well once upon a time it was red now kind of peeling off.

Another one I'd spotted on Google Earth earlier in the week so it was up to me to publish it and then find it first!
Maserati Drive sounds a bit pretentious for the area and while you can spot the trig from a distance you can't see it for the trees when you get closer. However if you go around the corner you can see it easily - Lagoonda (sp?) Drive is the spot.
