Description

Cecil Park TS1443

The official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Cecil Park.

Serial number is: TS1443.

Last Inspected on: July 29, 1975.

Elevation is: 161 metres.

The trig was spotted on Google Earth. It is on top of a water tank on some open ground near a communications tower.  A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

This one has been difficult currently the access road is being used as the depot for the road widening

Came here on the public holiday and the gates were locked

Today the gates were open so went to the site office and told them what I wanted to take photos so they said 10 minutes as they were just finishing for the day and they would be locking the gates. Went for the tank first as could see the tower from the gate if it took me too long

I walked right around this water tank without being able to spot the trig. Now checking old photographs (last logged 2017), it appears the vane has been removed, because today I couldn't spot the trig as shown in the old photographs. Now just a tank. TFTC.

Take the walk up the track, get the better view

This 1 was been on the radar for a while now – after placing a couple of caches came here to do the shortish walk to this 1 or as I say 2 for the $ of 1 visit – it’s nice to log 2 off trigs in 1 visit. Was going to do this 1 after work during the week BUT in afternoon peak period it’s a little difficult to pull of this road – no won is patient anymore – slow down to pull over & slow some people down – you will get a blast of the past.
Now back to the trigs – loved the walk up here – a nearby gate would be used in busy times for the shooting range, A big thanks.

I did the short but steep walk up from Elizabeth Drive. Saw a red bellied black snake cross the path a few metres in front of me, but he slithered out of the way.
I could see the tall one from the road but was surprised to see this one. TFTT

#GA422 - 16:20; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. Like the Grand Old Duke of York and his men, we marched up to the top of the hill where we bagged two for the price of one! TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different areas of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. Back in a couple of months for another go.

Two for the price of one walk. Works for me. No problems here and the photos were soon grabbed.

Locked gate along Elizabeth Drive but an easy uphill walk on a winter's mild afternoon ... trig is nicely framed as one rounds the bend on the track ... vane on its stand upon the reservoir.

After walking up the hill past the roaming cows, this was an easy find right near the other. 2 for the price of one, plus a frog that was waiting at the bottom of the hill!

As the original publisher of this trig I was duty bound to log it today as I was out this way. Saw the driveway used by rogerw3 and pjmpjm and parked, walking the 500m to the top of the hill. Grabbed the photos of this one and Cecil Tower alongside then back down the hill all the while enjoying the view of the Blue Mountains.

Trig number 5 for today's Trig hunt with pjmpjm.
A nice walk from Elizabeth Drive up the track, this has a pedestrian access so no worries about trespassing. A short walk up the hill and the reservoir and Trig will come into view. The red paint is peeling off the vanes but is still quite visible.

Found and logged with rogerw3 while on a day of trig hunting.

The Cecil Towers passive TS is right next door.

You'll have to walk up the driveway off Elizabeth Drive to log this one on top of the reservoir.

However, there's no 'no entry' sign at the start of the driveway, and there's even a special opening between the gates for pedestrians, so the area isn't at all off limits.

I parked in Hanover St amd climbed up and walked along the track, over the M7 and up the hill to the reservior for a quick photo.
