A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Found at 1:45pm. After finding some geocaching caches my mission was to do some of the Geocaching Australia Trigs so I dragged the girlfriend around and fortunately her phone camera worked quite well and could take my GPS/Camera/phone into the picture. This trig location we walked up near too but couldn't see the trig properly so had to go back down the road a little to get the best location. quite a prominent location from a distance you can see it but when closer still hard to find.

#GA400 - 09:45; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today. We now had a head of steam up and this was our third trig of 32 for the day. It proved a little difficult to get the money shot up close, but we did jag one from a distance. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A day trip planned with LuckyL10n to start grabbing a few trigs in different area's of Sydney. Hit Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown today...and grabbed a total of 32. Back in a couple of months for another go.

Couldn't see this one from the Reservoir itself, but did see it while driving away. Photos attached are (1) at the Reservoir itself and then (2) a long distance shot of the trig itself. Not great, but sometimes it's like that. Cerberus will rule. Clan Cerberus

A bit tricky to get a good look at this one. I got my best look from along Donalbain.

Found with my isolation. Can be seen from another angle. Discovered it whilst driving away lol

A quick stop, but a difficult search as I was to close at first, vision is only possible from a 100+ meters distance.

My 50th GCA cache. Hooray!!! Clapping

Found today while out pedalling around Campbelltown.

Had a couple of goes at finding a route to a spot where I could get a photo. Found a good spot but it would've required standing outside a local school and take a photo across the school. Not a good idea. Ended up pedalling around to Greco Reserve and had a good shot from there.

Found together with rogerw3 while on an afternoon's trig hunting expedition in the area -- one of 13 trigs I logged in the space of five hours!

Gray trig atop a reservoir, photographed from Greco Place.

Trig number 5 of 7 for me and of 13 for pjmpjm on our days trigging.
An easy one to spot on top of this large reservoir.
The vanes look to be only painted in grey undercoat and seem never to have had the final red coat applied.

One I spotted on Google Earth and published so it was up to me to find it too! Tricky to get a good shot from the end of Greco Place. Best spot was back where you see it on the way in. A white set of vanes (or very faded anyway). Also got the reservoir information on the sign again.
