Description
Carrington Stack TS10132
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Carrington Stack.
Serial number is: TS10132.
Last Inspected on: No Data.
Elevation is: 1040 metres.
Another of those old Trig Stations that were part of tall structures. This one was the lightning rod on top of the chimney. This is now gone but you can still see the conducting strap that was attached to the rod.
Best view from the front garden area of the Carrington Hotel on Katoomba Street.
But of course the chimney can be seen from all over the Leura/Katoomba area; it's a local Blue Mountains landmark.

Another find on our visit to the Blue Mountains from the Hunter Valley area, TFTC
While Mum went shopping the boys and I cruised out from Leura, through Katoomba, Medlow Bath and Blackheath, nabbing caches as we went. We somehow missed this in the past 2 years trips out here...

Hadn't realised we'd parked opposite a trig until we saw one on the GPS and immediately knew that thing we were looking at was it.....and we had a good pic taking spot as well. Easy as!

#GA2379 - 16:45; Day three of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney and today we decided to do Scenic World and see a bit more of the local environs. The day started with breakfast in Leura then off to Scenic World and a trip down the Scenic Railway and the walk through the rainforest. The highlight of the day was seeing not one, but two lyrebirds in their native habitat. Managed some great (and some not so great) snaps of these beautiful birds in the wild Travelled back up in the cable car and after a bite to eat headed across on the Scenic Skyway and back again after a short walk on what had become quite a hot day. After enjoying the sights, we were took the long way home and after dropping the geohoney at the resort, I headed off for a spot of late afternoon caching. I collected a few trads, but the main focus of this mission was trigs, including this one. I had to drive around a bit before I found a park to take the snap, but got the shot in the end. We walked around till we found a good view of the stack. quite an impressive structure.
Staying at Katoomba for a few days to do a some bush walking. The stack was an easy find, hardest thing working out where best to photograph it from. Also worth looking around the ground floor of the Carrington Hotel, very plush.
taking photos here for my course and for this cache and got bitten by a dog off it's leash

We'd been in and out of Katoomba for three days but it wasn't until our last time heading into the main street that I thought "isn't that a trig point?" and was able to capture a snap of it. Have had afternoon tea in the Carrington before but I didn't think the geokidlets would really appreciate it, so we continued on to the Blue Mountains Chocolate Company instead.
We are on our way from Caringbah (Sutherland area) to Bathurst to meet friends for dinner tonight. The first cache wasn't attempted until Lithgow so we actually arrived on time. Thanks to GeocachingNSW for the Invasion event!
Okay... This one was in Katoomba, so before Lithgow. While driving into the Coles I thought "Hey it's that tower!" and while driving out of Coles I thought "How will I ever get a picture with that???". So this is the result: An action shot!

Found on a weekend trip to the Blue Mountains with Sol de Lune. We decided to drive into Katoomba AGAIN to get this photo - despite the traffic being hectic. Cool little tower. TFTC GCA!

On my way to the Geocaching NSW Event I saw the chimney (stack) of the Carrington Hotel. Stopped and took a photo (selfie). But hard to 'miss it' but harder to get a good photo.

Hard to oversee this one! Even saw a glimps later on the day from the Anvil Rock lookout!!

Not a difficult Trig to find...finding an acceptable photographic distance may be an issue ... pics taken from near BMPT-36 (near Kingsford Smith Park).

After a wander through town saw the stack from the building works out the back, probably a better view from other side but we where gathering all the caches down the main street,
found on a GCA power trail weekend from Canberra along with Tankengine and Albida33

This trip was planned from when the trail was published, but it took till now to get a common free weekend. Most of the caches were simple and well placed. A few were more difficult. The places visited were interesting and all in all Mtrax, Tankengine and I had a great time, even if a bit wet and foggy at times.
Thanks

Last GCA cache of the day! After the BMPT, many Rog Trads, and a handful of trigs we were just about cached out. This was a good Trig and Blossom and I walked up to the recommended spot to get our photos. Glad I took the opportunity to visit the Mountains again on my brief trip hom this summer.
Cheers!

Our last trig find for our record day of GCA finds. What a great old chimney! I could see it for miles as we walked up the street towards it

I've been past here many times in good weather, but have never had my camera handy. Today I had the camera, but the weather wasn't exactly cooperative with letting me get a good picture.
Interesting trig name. Is/was it really.....
Parked nearby and grabbed my photo. That is one big hole being filled in next door.

This certainly is the logical spot for a trig. A tower this tall certainly stands out.
Had to knock off this date on the calendar and this was on the way from one work to the other.
Visited this iconic Blue Mountains site while taking Mrs. pjmpjm shopping in Katoomba.
Of course, I've been very familiar with the chimney very well, for decades, but never knew it was a trig.
Many thanks to rogerw3 for discovering it and publishing it!
I wandered around and got views from several sides before deciding that the Carrington Hotel driveway and garden was the best spot for the photo.

Found today, while caching in Katoomba. I have had this one on the radar for some time, but only got around today to check it out. Great structure, the building is still in use but not as an incinerator!
