Well I was trying out the GA app on my new android phone (woohoo - didn't have that on apple!) and this one popped up

I(t was difficult to get a good shot at this one. It's not a good look to be aiming and SLR camera between houses.

After the nearby GCNSW AGM, came out to grab a couple of GCA caches around Marsfield. This was the second after Terry's Creek. Started in Yamba Cl but wasn't happy with the the photo so drove around to Summit Cl where I had a much clearer view. TFTT

#GA754 - 13:50; Sol de lune and I had decided that double points month made a flying day trip to Sydney to grab some more trigs and perhaps a GeGnome or two a worthwhile adventure. An itinerary was hastily prepared and today was to be the day. We had completed our mission at Rookwood, after grabbing a couple of bonus caches in Bankstown on the way past. It was now off further north into uncharted waters for us to see what was available. Made our way to GZ and after a run up Yamba Close found a good vantage point further along in Summit Close for the happy snap to be taken. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Day trip to Sydney with LuckyL10n to bust free a few GeGnomes and snare a few more Trigs...

Another quick stop and photo opportunity...and another trig is crossed off. TFTT

Another trig for the Winter games. This time a nice disc which is a bit of a novelty in all these urban trigs

Found with Zhaoy... eventually! Stopped on one side but couldnt see it. Drove around the other.. nope. Last try made it just visible! Only time for the one today.

This one was a bit tricky. We had to try a few different spots before we could get a glimpse of the trig. Found it eventually!

A bit tricky to get a shot of, had to read some previous logs to find the right street. Then it's a bit tricky without looking like you are photographing someone's house. A selfie with the phone looking the other way and using the front camera seemed the way to go. Hopefully the trig is visible in the background!

Finding a spot to grab a picture for this was a bit of a struggle. Checking out the map I thought I could spot it from Agincourt Rd but no luck. Tried both Yamba Close and Summit Close to finally get a shot.

I think I was in Yamba Cl for this one. I hope the shot works.

After Mac Uni this was our next nearest unfound trig so we headed down there knowing it could be hard to grab a shot. Looking at previous photos it appears there are two vanes/beacons on this water tank as Hunter-Finder's shot looks nothing like the others. pjmpjm said how difficult it was to get the shot and couldn't work out where others had taken their shots over the houses. We used some inside knowledge to get out first clear shot from the same spot as H-F - there was some work going on and the gate was open. Then we went to Yanco Close for another shot but was it the same trig? Then a third shot from Summit Close for the trifecta. Are they all the same beacon? You decide.

I live 5 mins away from this trig, but like many of them never thought about it being there. The cache was only put up a week ago and already there are several finds. Anyway I called in on my way home from work and, as usual, tried my hand at a find without the logs. The tank's a no brainer from the north, but no trig in sight (but there is a nice mound of dirt to stand on). After a bit of weaving around the side streets on the Bandit I eventually came up with a view of the trig point - in camo light blue??? Not a good colour for a trig point I imagine.

This was one of the most challenging trig shots I've done in recent months -- even tougher than the Artarmon Trig.

All I can do is repeat rogerw3's advice to find a carefully selected viewing spot off the end of Diane Street, between the houses at the very end, at the 'cul de sac' point . . . and I really felt that I was 'at the bottom of the bag' on this expedition!

(Use S33 46.985 E151 6.200 to reach rogerw3's spot.)

I spoke with the caretaker of the local church -- Marsfield Community Church -- who was standing outside the church office on Agincourt Road, and she was quite content for me to take photographs from the church grounds, but I still couldn't see the actual trig from there.

(This spot is near S33 46.911 E151 6.221, but the trig isn't viewable from out on Agincourt Road.)

Anyhow, through various means I finally got a decent picture.

Whew!

I guess people don't like to explore these days. I found a way to get close to the resevoir ages ago when I logged it as an above ground tank. Now I get to log it as a trig too. Laughing

Drove as close as I could and then walked a little closer, so I got a good shot. Buried deep in amoungst the houses though. Another Trig done Wink

06-Apr-11
I've got some old maps which show a trig called 'Beedham' (named after the local family I think) which was at the corner of Balaclava and Abuklea Roads. This must be the successor to it. It doesn't appear on later maps. They may have changed the spelling for the new location.
Good find.

Took a while to find the only spot from where the beacon can be seen, that is from the end of Diane Street in Marsfield. There is no other vantage point I could find (in the rain!). Unfortunately the reservoir is well surrounded by houses.
