Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Our last find for this road trip as we make our way to the boat to return to Tassie, fairly easy to get to which helps when you're on a fine timeline, TFTT

Out and about caching and taking photos for the day. Lovin' life, coffees and caches, waymarks and photos, taking the roads less travelled.

What a wonderful view from up here, and how sad that disrespectful people have used the area as a rubbish dump, otherwise it would be a magnificent spot to visit. It was so good to be able to look down from this height overlooking the city below, we could see for miles.
Thanks for bringing us here to the trig point whilst in town for two events tonight.

After a couple of hot days, it was a relief to finally have the cool change. Not wanting to stay in the house, I headed out to grab this trig point. I had visited here a long time ago and it was nice to return here. I see nothing has changed in regards to the rubbish dumping.... Not Talking Thanks for bringing me back to this place, love the view here. Thanks Geocaching Australia Smile

#GA1106 - 09:30; Day 4 of the Melbourne Mega Mission with Sol de lune and we were now headed for Canberra after a successful few days of caching. Like the outward journey, today's focus was on a few GCA caches before we reached the Hume Highway and made a beeline for home. Drove right up to the trig, although I'm not sure about the 'abandoned' (and most probably stolen) safe which has been dumped there. Nice views as well from up here. We stopped by here while on the way home from our Daddy-Daughter camp in Anglesea for this one and the adjacent GC cache. Both ended up be nice easy finds at 17:40. The views across to Geelong weren't too shabby, although the camera doesn't show that to be the case.

Thanks Geocaching Australia.

Wilst finding the gc cache at this point, thought I would log my first ever GA find, and a trig at that! Great view from this spot over Geelong and the bay, well worth driving here.

Find number 9 of 10 today. What a view! As I said in my log of the GC.com cache at this location, pity the refinery is such a dominant feature in this landscape though. Thanks for another trig-point find!

Found by Team Ladava around 5.45pm.
I grabbed the grandchildren and headed out for a cache or two while Mum and Nan settled in for some 'girl time'.
I took the shot of the trig with our grandchildren while finding the nearby GC offering.
I seem to recall flying into an air strip at Lovely Banks about 40 years ago in a light plane but I cannot recall where it was exactly.
Love this GCA Trig series.
Cheers

Was coming back from Teesdale early this afternoon and saw the sign to Anakie. Remembered that this trig was listed and decided to do the detour. Great views of Geelong and Bay from up here. Really windy and cold day. Not sure how much passing traffic would come up here. Very quiet and deserted today.

Came accross this trig while doing a cache very close by and wondered why nobody had set it up on GCA. Could almost touch it over the fence.
