On our way out to the Coxs River Road, we made sure we grabbed what trigs we could get to. We saw the sign advising 24hr security and private access, what harm is a Dad and his 10yo son going to do out here anyway? Suffice to say we ignored it, and pushed on, parking at the base of the hill and storming our way up. Even as far as trig goes this one has awesome views, and worth the trip.

An early morning start and very smoky. Al to try and finish the Cox river series.
Really enjoyed the roads picked despite limited views. Heaps of kangaroos and even a wombat this morning. All caches were found quick and easy.

After AlternateRoute last log I was hoping to do a distance shot on this 1. Been here once before & was put off by the sign & didn’t want to cause any trouble. I returned today after a big day of caching in the Jenolan Caves area and beyond and it was just starting to get dark, so that’s why the photos are the way they are. I found in the end the trig can be seen very easily with the naked eye from the main road at the top of the hill and also to about half way down the hill. So, in the end this trig can still be completed without offending anyone. It was nice to tick this one off, thanks again. Clan Griffin

Got up close and personal with this cache as I am friends with the owners of the land on which it stands.
Do not go onto this land without the permission of the owners.
They rent out cabins not the top of the hill and part of the attraction is the solitude and they don't want this ruined by trespassers. The seats are there for the use of the cabin guests
Note also that Timperi Drive is a private road on private land and is only accessible to residents and their visitors.
Old man Timperi does not take kindly to strangers and you might find yourself at the wrong end of a shotgun or a star-picket.
You should only attempt to take photos of the trig from public roadways.

Alright, I was not sure about how close I could get to this until I got home and read the previous logs. However, the photo I took suggests that I may have been spotted had I tried to get closer. I'll be back.

Disconcerting to take the exit from Megalong Place and be confronted with a 'Private road/Trespassers prosecuted/Security' sign. With the road showing on the Navman I held to an 'elderly' defence if needs be.

The narrow road wound over rolling hills with close to the side barb wire fences ... till at the GZ where there was a fortuitous parking area. Approaching along the road there was a glimpse, it was thought, of the vanes but there was no indication bar a television antenna* seemingly on the hillside.

At 120 metres away and no one obviously in sight, and a faded track leading uphill, there was only the chance of missing a Trig to lose ... so up the hill went the 'mushroom.

Almost upon it before it is sighted just a metre or so over the fence, the trig and vanes are in a reasonable condition, moreso than the two strategic seats placed to take in the grand view(s).

Poor pics were taken of the trig with the Android, and looking at Roger and pjmpjm logs now for detail on the rock pile I see I missed the survey marker circle ... bugger - but then, with the house nearby, and the 'security' sign, I was in no mood to linger.

* The television antenna is indeed upon the hill, on a short pole near one of the seats.

A great log during an afternoon of geocaching with rogerw3.

We found that we could drive very close to this well-preserved trig and photograph it easily without entering private property.

And rogerw3 spotted the NSW State Survey Marker (unnumbered) that often accompanies these trigs.

What great 360 degree views you get from these hilltops . . . if you can avoid being blow away by the winds.

Anyhow, fun to add another trig to the totals and see some beautiful countryside.

(Don't go over the barbed wire fence because then you'll be on private property.)

Four 'Thumb's Up' for a great adventure on a great day.

Taking a leaf out of Team Canary's book, pjmpjm and I were out in the general area today so this Trig was a must for us. You can indeed drive to a 100 metres or so and a short walk up the hill along the fence will make this an easy find.
The owner of the property obviously use this spot frequently as there are a couple benches there. the partial remain of the original cairn can be seen as a part circle around the Survey marker in front of the bench. The current cairn was made from the stones from the original cairn and is only ornamental and not related to the Trig.

I researched this and it looked like the road went close.

Today with a bit of extra time I went for a drive.

I plugged the co-ordinates into the car GPS and it got me to within 120 metres of the new trig and a pile of the rocks from the old one.

A great feeling when I spotted this.
