Description

Rotoract TS5630

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Rotoract.

Serial number is: TS5630.

Last Inspected on: February 26, 1991.

Elevation is: 924 metres.

Concrete pedestal with mast and vanes.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig poin. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

The air was crisp as GLISS! and I stopped in here on our way to Bathurst. Managed to get a photo of the trig but left the cache as a muggle had settled in to ponder the universe in front of the beautiful views.

Out with Sophoutloud on the way home from Kozi and grabbing a few caches and trigs as we go, hopefully will be able to claim a few more regions. Getting late in the day and we still have quite a way to get home but we just couldn't resist grabbing a few more, sleep is for the weak right? nice and easy drive to the top of the hill and a good view over the town

On our way home sadly. But always time to stop of a cache or a trig or maybe both! Especially when your traveling with outdoornut22. Also not far off the main road. In my opinion this was a great spot to stop weather your geocaching or not, maybe it was the weather or the time of day but it was a fabulous lookout and just a really neat and tidy park! Looking at the old records there’s another old trig here so we’ll get outdoornut22 onto that

While heading to Tarana to find some Waymarks I decided that if I could, I would head a bit further to find a couple of Trigs that I hadn't previously found. Drove on up to the Lookout, and snapped a couple of photos.

Last minute plans late last night for a country drive today with fitzy_1965 lead us up to Blayney. I ended up with 24 GC (filling in gaps up the road from Goulburn) and 5 trigs. Last one for the day and the brightest! Was good to get up close and personal with a trig rather than the distance shots we have had to do today.

#GA993 - 15:10; Out on a day run from Canberra to Blayney via Crookwell and return with Sol de lune, primarily to collect caches in the History of..... series and anything else along our route, including a few trigs. We had reached the northern end of our run, but decided that as time was getting away from us, we would limit our activity to the locat 'History of.....' cache and this trig before heading towards home. Made our way to the top of the hill for another almost easy drive by with nice views over the town. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A day-long backways roady for History mysteries and trigs with rogerw3 ...

An easy to drive to park atop Blayney, but goodness the chilled wind blasted through, spoiling the opportunity to take in the sweeping surround views ... a quick trig pic, indeed.

25-Jul-14
In Orange for a funeral yesterday so grabbed a few today on the way home. Swear I've found a trig up here years ago but I'll take it. Tastefully painted.

06-Feb-14
Driving back from Young I stopped by this park for a find of an unusual trig. Shape is the same as most plinths but being painted blue and yellow to match the rest of the park furniture was a bonus!

30-Aug-13
Bikerbuddy & I were on a road trip to Wagga Wagga, in search of windmills for a long distance multi. We came to this spot for the nearby GC cache, and as I drove up, I was sure there would be a trig here. And there was! I've never seen one that has been painted to match everything else in a park before.

Pic will follow soon

It was rather windy up on the hill at Blaney today but we got some good views of the surrounding area. The photo added to the Gallery is a composite of two photos: the first image is one of us at the trog point; the second image is of the identification plate on the base of the trig point. TFTC

Great spot to get a view over the countryside and Blayney - the coldest town in NSW for sure today!

14-May-11
On a cold autumn day with a bitterly cold wind blowing, we drove up here to check out the great view and log this trig. The photos might show us with blue lips I think! But it would be a fabulous spot on a warmer day Smile
