Logs
I realised today when i was looking for a trig to go and walk to that I had not logged these Narrow Neck Trigs from when I was out there back in 2021. I was out this way walking with my Outdoor Leadership Trainees, we were towards the end of a 3 day bushwalking’s off track through Cedar Creek that had been good fun and a little bit of an epic in some gnarly terrain and fire regrowth however that was behind us and we were having a great day walking up through Tarros Ladder and making away along the tops of Narrow Neck on a beautiful day with fantastic views. We stopped by the fire tower and the trigs for some lunch which gave me the chance to sneak over and take a few photos of the three trigs that reside here. Great spot thanks

MrT did a bike ride out along Narrowneck and decided to do some trigs and caches along the way. An easily spotted tower. TFTT

On the way out here as the start of my K2K walk I was past by a Subaru (yes past the locked gate) I observed it was just a family vehicle including a kiddie seat with child strapped in. I was quite curious and must of seamed so as on his return he stopped and had a small chat. He told me he was just dropping of some survey markers. Makes you wonder
A perfect blue sky windless winter's day for a walk out along the Narrowneck Fire Trail with rogerw3.
The Firetower comes into sight at a distance along the way - on the hoof, it is further than it seems. A bonus Narrowneck and Narrowneck Old also can be logged at the same location - continuing onward it is a steep downhill for a grand view, and makes for a long day with the return.

You can't miss this trig, even in the thick mist it was shrouded in this morning. It loomed out of the gloom as I approached. Found at 10:16 am.

I joined a club walk doing some of the historic passes of narrowneck. We did Redledge (descending - easy), Dunphy's (ascending - a hard slog and really thick banksia bush at the top) and Harmill (descending - a few exposed scrambles). Then camped on the Medlow Gap firetrail, at Breakfast Creek.
Then in the morning, we ascended Tarros Ladder and slogged along the firetrail forever. I was glad to have a little drink and snack break at the firetower, and took the opportunity to snap a quick photo, since I had missed it the last time I was out here.

Our Mini Event group all converged for a break at the Narrow Neck fire tower after the separate groups had made their morning finds. Luckily, we had rogerw3 along who knew the tower is a passive trig.
The central antenna mast would be the horizontal reference but there is no obvious elevation point.

Second ever trig sighting. Was on the Narrow Neck mini walk which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Great walk to this one. The views enroute are superb.
Checked into "the office" on site too... which is handy !

At last I made it back here. last time I came here to do the 'Narrow Neck' Trig and did not at that stage know that the Fire Tower was also a Passive Trig, so now I have found both.
This was done as part of a walking group which made the trip very enjoyable and seem shorter.
Such a shame you cannot get to the top of the tower, the view would be incredible from up there.

The view from the ground was magnificent, but from the top it must be mind blowing!?!
I've often walked or ridden Narrow Neck, but never to do trigs. Canary suggested a trip out to the end of Narrow Neck today to get a waypoint for a GC cache. Rogerw3 also had a walking event for the Fire Tower trigs on today, so we all became part of the group. I took Garks out on our bikes and caught up with Canary, and we eventually met the main group back at the tower. A Good day.
Adjacent to the Narrow Neck Trig, this fire tower is a 'passive trig' registered by the old NSW Department of Lands.
Found and photographed with a group of friends on the GCA 'Narrow Neck Mini Walk' event . . .
A good time was had by all.
Many thanks to rogerw3 for re-discovering it . . .
Four 'Thumbs Up' for the panoramic views along the way.

A lovely walk out along Narrow Neck brought us to this spot for a quick lunch, photos and return to Katoomba. Great views along the way. Recommended.

Did the Narrow Neck walk some time ago with my local bushwalking club and we had a great day. We had morning tea at the fire tower and worth noting is that a new composting toilet had been installed. Would love to see the views from up on the fire tower.
Track undulates a lot and has a few steep sections, but I think it was the round trip all the way to the end and back that wore us all out. We were so glad to get back to the cars. Lots of wildflowers, two snakes (one brown and a tiger), unparalleled views of Lake Burragorang, Jamison Valley, Kings Tableland, Megalong Valley, Kanangra Walls, Mt Cloudmaker, Mt Solitary, the Sydney skyline, we could even just make out Mt Jellore (which is near Mittagong), this is just a sample of the spectacular views on offer.
Both trigpoints (this one and TP0040) are just over 6km from the car park so return trip would be over 12km. The end of Narrow Neck is a 20km round trip from the gate but worth it for the views.
This is also a highly rated MTB ride with a rating of 5 from the Fat Hippy.
Cheers,
Mike (pi).
