Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ and to photograph it.

Warrah TS4646

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Warrah.

Serial number is: TS4646.

Last inspected on: June, 2002.

Elevation is: 176 meters.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A quick punch – caching in the afternoon – completed this trig with its 3 off waymarks here then off to lookout – earth cache & a gc cache nearby – national parks have on their website & google mapping – road closed but gate was open & it was very busy here – needed to park in 2nd car park – nice rock platform that this trig sits on - thanks

I stopped by here to do the nearby earthcache and noticed the trig in the way past . So stopped to take a photo on the way back . Spectacular views from the lookout

The road in has been fixed and is nice for driving. Looks like there are remnants of the old trig in front. Will have to look into that. Great view down the track at the lookout.

We have been past this a number of times, but never managed to grab a photo after we started logging trigs.
We passed this way today as part of a hike from Wondabyne to Patonga.

The road in is currently closed, which didn't bother us as we had to walk anyway.

after finding a few caches in the area, I walked up to this trig, before making my way to the lookout

It is only a short walk up to the TrigPoint and then an excellent walk follows out to the lookout. An easy stroll today even with a threatening storm.

Warrah trig, keep walking past the trig for a amazing view of the Hawksbury River.

We had to go to Woy Woy to pick up Miss Shifter from work so Mrs Shifter decided we would take a slightly longer detour and visit this trig beforehand. We drove to within about 30 m of the trig following a couple of P platers who were probably on their first dirt track.

Found 3:59pm. On an afternoon of exploring with the girlfriend and decided to grab a few GA caches and maybe a GC or two and enjoy the exploring, views and scenery.

We were out this way today looking for a WP for BFJ's GC62WZJ cache and stopped by. Although we have been to the area a few times before via the nearby GNW trails, we have never been to this specific spot with the great little path which takes you down to the Warrah lookout. Unfortunately though for us today we had to park on Patonga Dr and walk/ run in because the dirt road was closed! Good practice for the kids' cross-country event next week lol. Cheers. Pics attached.

Out with my bushwalking club today doing a walk from this trig to green point trig. A nice view from this one.

I had wanted to 're-do' this trig for quite a while - since going 'heavier-duty' with Waymarking, and noticing that it is listed under the "Australia Trig Points" category. I am sure that I had visited it back in the mid 1980s, but it is not recorded in my 'Trig Stations' log book of then.
I wasn't sure if I would have a bit of a walk from what my GPSr showed as Patonga Drive, to the north west of the trig. Or if "The Great North Walk" (aka Warrah Trig Road) was just a walking track. It is such a rough dirt track you can easily walk it. I QUICKLY came up behind an 'Echo' that was trying to dodge all of the potholes. Forget that! It is one huge pothole! I was leaving the trig from photographing it when they arrived in the car park!
This is still a steel post, with a mounting plate on top, but seems to have been painted green since fathrtime took his photos for the Waymark - WMCCE2.

Just the POOR condition of the "Warrah Trig Road" /track, could give this Terrain 2 rating Laughing

Found while heading to a nearby waypoint for a very good GC multi, Quest for the Middle Sea Diamond, and to Warrah Lookout for an earthcache that's there. No pic of the trig but here's one I took at the lookout.

Great lookout nearby. Went straight past this trig as part of a bushwalk from Little Wobby to Patonga. Found at 2:42 pm.

Tay I'm here at last

23-Aug-13
We took the walk down to the Warrah Lookout before returning to take the photo.

We came across this trig point on a walk with the Codgers from Woy Woy to Patonga, along a portion of the Great North Walk. Most people come past here to access the nearby lookout, which has spectacular views over Broken Bay and up the Hawkesbury River. Unfortunately, the column has been affected by graffiti.

15-Jul-12
Found on my past walking from Patonga to Wondabyne station. Driving to the nearby car park would be a much easier way to get here but not quite as spectacular.

With a nearby road named "Warrah Trig Road" this just had to still be there. Although the road GPS had it marked as Great North Walk you can drive the length of it to the car park and you can see the trig remnants from there. It's basically just a round post with the "geodetic survey" bracket on top. There's a convict-style north arrow carved in the stone nearby.
Easy find. Nearby GC cache is gone. Great view if you go down the hill.
