Willunga trig consists of a metal pole set in concrete, nothing else remains although you can see the circle of stones from the original cairn nearby. There are spectacular views from here as it's the highest point in the National Park. The trig is located at the end of Willunga track off West Head Road in the National Park, only a 750m easy walk. There's also a survey mark at the start of the track.
To log a find, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself.
The official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Willunga.
Serial number is: TS2779.
Last inspected on: December 20, 1972.
Elevation is: 233 meters.

Nice walk in from the road, narrow track with a steeper section near the top, but a nice walk with great views at the top. Would be a nice place to see the sun rise from. TFTT.

This walk was a lot easier than I had expected it to be with some nice views, cool wind and lots of wildflowers. Well worth the trip out
After a couple of trips down and back the Towlers Bay track as part of our 3 Capes training in the last couple of days I decided to stroll along Willunga track to see the view. It's a nice narrow track sloping from the road to the highest point in the Park. The view is wonderful. I have heard of people trekking in at dusk and staying overnight after watching the New Years fireworks in the city.

Found this today on a lovely 13km loop walk encompassing some of the less frequented spots in West Head guided by Blossom and Strike A Light. Nice spot to sit and have lunch and easily reached from the road.

After spending a really pleasant afternoon exploring Topham trig and some of the aboriginal rock art sites, I decided to 'nab' Willunga on the way home. This is a really pleasant walk to a spot with great views. The trig is not much to look at (just the post) but worth the visit.

After a pleasant walk down to Trowlers Bay there was time and desire to make a side trip up to Willunga. The trail is a bit overhung by the remains of trees that slumped over after the bushfires a year ago.
Not much left of the old trig but the views are nice.

Another trig day at West Head and this was the first on the list. I really enjoyed the track as it's just a little path rather than a huge fire trail. There were lots of flowers out all along the way, especially darwinia, with a huge display of pink eriostomen at the end.
We stood in silence and listened to all the birds, quite a lot of noise from them as there were so many all over the valleys below us!!
The trig location has really fabulous views and it's one of the most worthwhile trigs to visit in my book. This is a perfect spot to bring any visitors as it's a very short and easy walk to a really great spot!

I'd seen this trig on old maps but it's not on newer topo maps. However, I'd read a reference to the "Willunga Trig Walk" on the net so I knew it was there. Found the track easily - it's a 750 metre walk which is mainly gently sloping until the last slightly steeper bit. The end of the track is a lookout and you can see a long way to the south, this supposedly being the highest point in the NP. We got 233 metres on the GPS.
The trig is just a simple metal post set in concrete in the rock. It looks like there was something attached but that's long gone. About three metres back along the track is a ring of stones that was obviously once the stone cairn trig.
Worth the walk for the views, not a lot of trig to see though.
