Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1184 - 11855 overall cache finds.

Found during a work visit to Sydney. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted.

Thanks Geocaching Australia !

i was here for a nice week away with the hubby, i went down stairs and looked at my GPS and it was only 50m away so off i walked. Its a Nice Building

05-Jul-15
When my family visited the city when I was little, my dad always told the story of how he remembered, when he was younger, the AWA Tower being the tallest building in the city. Today as I was traveling into the city on the rivercat I looked up and saw the AWA Tower tucked away amongst all the other buildings, I was able to pass on this piece of history to my children.
I have always thought it was an amazing structure, so different to everything around it.

04-Jul-15
Found while walking through Sydney, geocaching in a city is not really my thing. I am thankful that there are “photo “ caches I can do. TFTC

04-Jul-15
Having walked from Luna Park I didn't think I would get this one as I was running late and was to meet my family at darling harbour. At the last minute I got a phone call saying they were at the hotel still so I walked there and collected this find on the way.

01-Jun-15
While browsing through the site I found out that the AWA building was a trigpoint! In that case, let's make a picture from the office on the 29th floor of 123 Pitt Street Smile

For the trivia people, who probably already know this: In the movie The Matrix you can see this tower too.

24-May-15
Out for the VIVID festival, with a few hours of caching beforehand. Surprised to come across this tower later in the night NOT lit up!

27-Oct-14
Thanks to my very good friend (He knows who he is!) I have been introduced to Geocaching and although I am not quite getting the caching bit I am however quite taken by the trigonometric Points.
Having heard my friend go on and on about their use and value as well as their history I have decided to log a few with my friend to hold my hand for now!

14-Sep-14
Embarrassingly, having lived here over twenty years, I don't recall ever noticing this before! Thanks for showing me another interesting sight in Sydney.

16-Aug-14
found after an event for IGD, thankyou

#GA163 - 13:20; I was in Sydney with the geohoney, geoteen and friend, so while they were indulging in some retail therapy, I'd made my way over to the botanical gardens, then via another virtual to pick up a few of the caches I'd yet to log in the CBD, this one among them. Headed towards GZ and soon had the trig in sight. After taking the obligatory happy snap, it was off to meet up with the girls and headed out of the CBD on another retail expedition in Drummoyne! TFTC Geocaching Australia Very Happy

Right next to our hotel. We went to see Sunrise in Martin Place today. We wandered back through the place. Great to see some old infrastructure in a city so obsessed with new. TFTC

29-May-14
Was staying nearby when in town for work and popped out early this morning to find this cache... a lovely tower that I never noticed before. It's really pretty so thanks for making it a cache!

05-May-14
This was Mrs THR's second day in Sydney. We had a wonderful day walking around the Circular Quay and CBD. This iconic tower can be seen from many vantage points throughout the CBD depending on your angle. We were amazed to learn that it's actually a trig point. How fascinating. TFTTp GCA

23-Feb-14
Grabbed a shot of this old tower while in the city today. Glad it's still there. We've lost enough of the old Sydney already.

20-Feb-14
Found while walking around the city late at night, on my last evening in Sydney for work. I must admit, I have enjoyed the hustle and bustle I have experienced staying in a hotel for two weeks in the heart of the CBD.

04-Jul-13
Had a job in town that didn't need the car so caught the train in to save on the ridiculous CBD parking fees. On the way back to Wynyard detoured to this well known landmark that I remember ever since I first came to the city in the early 80s, looks especially good lit up at night. Grabbed a selfie with it in the background, that required some touchup as I was in shadow and it was way too bright!

23-Oct-12
Captured as I walked up Kent St to Erskine St.
I can even remember the old AWA logo on electrical appliances.

17-Jul-12
Found with my boy Zalgar.
Sorry, Im so far behind with my logs Ive decided to cut'n'paste to catch up!

TFTC! Zhaomin from China

Night Trigging but no worries here with the Tower well lit up. Very impressive for a Passive Trig and great to grab another GeoSportz requirement too. Had a massive meal of Meat and Beer at the Lowebnbrou then Chocy at the Guylian Cafe. A trig to top off a great night!

03-May-12
Wandering around Sydney, snapping photos with the new camera. Did not realise that this was a Trig Point. It remains a fasinating land mark and not what I expected to find in the city.

Always happy when you can enjoy the sites and still get a smiley

01-May-12
Found while in the park with Toriaz. Have always been aware of the tower. There's a glimpse of it in The Matrix, and I mention it in a pretentious poem written at university. Only now, however, have I officially found it!

01-May-12
Was walking through the park behind Wynyard with bikerbuddy when I looked up & saw this strange white tower on a nearby building. I was sure it was a trig, so we both took photos.

Nice to have an unexpected find.

18-Mar-12
While walking past it was an opportunity to grab a quick photo.

03-Dec-11
I had an hour to spare between finishing working here in the city and picking up my wife - also in the city. What else is there to do in that case but to grab a few caches - and virtuals seemed to be the best option today, as I am saving the newer traditional caches for the Christmas to Feb run when I have heaps of days to complete in my caching calendar.
1st of several for the hour.

25-Nov-11
I was passing by this way while walking to a meeting, so couldn't resist a quick pic despite the drizzle.

16-Sep-11
I photographed this from some very colourful steps

23-Aug-11
The easiest of the three city trigs to find and get a good photo of.

12-Aug-11
Another Friday night after work and another opportunity for some caches before I head home.

06-Aug-11
Walked down from near Town Hall under I was almost directly underneath this distinctive tower, designated as an official TS and given a number by the NSW Department of Lands. Yes, it's now dwarfed by the nearby buildings.

Still, it's an impressive tower, especially when you look almost straight up at it.

27-Jul-11
Another Trig find in the City, and think I remember a time when this tower used to dominate the Sydney skyline and now it is dwarfed by all the buildings around it.
