Description

Trig point on top of a water tank in Kallangur

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

At the intersection of Anzac Ave, Dohles Rocks Rd and Narangba Rd there's a tall thin water tower with a square vaned trig on top.

This was perhaps the only time we have been happy to be stopped by a red light. The water tower was in the perfect position for a kick snap at the lights before we continued on our way.

Thanks for the trig point listing!

It’s nice to see a structure like this in Brisbane with some art on it. We need more of this in my opinion. It took a while to get the image of the Trig on top of the tower as it was quite busy around here this afternoon. Patience prevailed. This is my final find of the day. Now to get to Wild Earth to collect some gear for my next hike.
Thanks for the cache.

#GA3475 - 14:20; Arrived in Brisbane this morning with Sol de lune for day 1 of a long planned mission to cache South East Queensland. After collecting the hire geomobile, we headed up to Mount Gravatt for our first stop and to grab a couple of snaps of the local trig. It was then on to Redlands to try our hand at the Australiana series, then on towards Caboolture. Grabbed a snap of this trig while stopped at the set of traffic lights close by. I had just dropped one of my munchkins at her friends house and was heading for home when I remembered there was a GCA cache here.
Seeing as I was driving past I stopped to take a photo.

The tower now has some brilliant art work on it.
It is titled ‘Symbiosis’ featuring native grass trees and a soaring black cockatoo.
This trig truly has a memorable base under it.

First day back in the old stomping ground and headed by this trig and grabbed the required photo.....which as it hasn't been found in over 2 years...meant a few extra DZ points.

Searched for the trig point today but didn't notice that it had been shifted to the top of the tower. GZ was slightly away from the tower. Workmen were rebuilding the gardens nearby. Will try again when out that way.

I spotted this one from the car when I was in Brisbane but had company and couldn't stop. Interesting trig, quite unlike NSW trigs.
