CORS Trig, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

Found with the geofamily. We might have to come back for a better photo of the CORS location.

Well, there are a great many photos of different spots for this one, but we took a shot of the covered area that we believe contains the CORS. We could have taken a photo of every pole with a dome, but there are about half a dozen.

The reconstruction of the EE building has building sheds all around it, as such you couldn’t see the roof. Not event from the Scientia building view platform. .

#GA261 - 17:45; I was in Sydney today and after dropping the geohoney, geoteen and friend off for some retail therapy in the city, I decided to head to the eastern suburbs for a bite to eat and a little caching. I had collected three GC caches and had some lunch when I noticed a nearby trig. Bagged the first, then a second and I was on a roll from there. Decided I should head back towards the city to collect the girls and got the call to do just that as I was about to take a snap of the CORS. Got the snap and headed back to the geomobile and into the city, the day's caching completed. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very Happy

After meeting a post-doctoral colleague at UNSW for dinner as we caught up on research we gave Mrs THR a tour of the UNSW campus. As he's a physicist and knew about geocaching we had a great talk. He also told me about this trigpoint. Quite fascinating how it works. Too dark for a good photo, but interesting nonetheless. TFTTp GCA

Somrtimes when I see those sharp details of photo's I get jealous, mu GPS makes the pictures but can't do that. Luckily most of the time at least it is visible and clear what the trig is. Liked the walk over the campus and the location of the cors.

I guess it helps when you know exactly what you are looking for.
However this is a tricky one. there are 3 GPS receiver stations on the roof of this building (G17 Electrical Engineering). The CORS trig is the one in the NW corner of the roof, the other two at the SW & se corners are not CORS installations, they are for some other use no doubt related to the curriculum.
The best and pretty much only spot from which a decent photo can be obtained is from the viewing platform on top of Building G19 the John Nilland Scientia Building.

This one can now be unarchived.

There is nothing here to be seen. Unless you can get access to the roof of the building to check if this is still there.

Had a good look around but could not see this Trig or any of the other 5 on the campus. This may be out of sight or gone. Lets wait for another opinion before archiving this one.
