Description
Bonna TS10666F
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Bonna.
Serial number is: TS10666F.
Last Inspected on: August 13, 1979.
Elevation is: 5 metres.
This trig was discovered by WanderingAus who logged it as a survey mark back on 19 September 2010 while looking for another cache. I (Yurt) spotted the pictures amongst the logs for NSW Survey Marks (locationless) and recognised a trig. Confirmation from rogerw3 followed.
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Strolled over to this trig after finding a nearby GC cache. I was keen on finding this one and making my 100th GCA find. Took a little wandering back and forth to find the right approach to the trig but once I was on the beach it was easily spotted. The trig is standing proudly on the edge of the bushes with one of the best views across Botany Bay. This is the most up close and personal I have got with a trig so could not resist a photo touching it.
This brings up my 100th GCA find! looking forward to many more.
Thanks for the trig Geocaching Australia
GCA Find #100!!!!
Easy find once at GZ....all good.
I had been near here a couple times over the last 2 years getting a few of the challenging caches in Quibray Bay. Sure enough, found it after walking out a bit further on the spit.
No name plate, but it has been recently painted I take it, as there did seem to be any graffiti mentioned by others. Also 'grabbed' the Waymark.

This Trig has lost its mast and vanes a long time ago and the name plate has gone also. It is being claimed by the vegetation and by next year will be quite hidden I would think.
A nice peaceful spot - if you can ignore the jets landing over the top of you constantly.
I make it a Difficulty 1 Terrain 1.5.
I just received a message from Yurt, who wrote "A while ago I spotted a find of yours in the NSW Survey Marks locationless. I recognised it as a trig and confirmed the name with Roger W. I've only just got around to publishing it - lost the link. As you logged it back then you can now log it as a trig find! FTF and all!" .
How nice was that? and Yurt even included the url for my NSW Survey Marks log AND for this Benchmark. A two for one, it doesn't get much better than that (well, I have had a three for one once or twice).
*Recommended* *Overall Experience: 3* *FTF*
