Serial number is: TS10758R.
Last Inspected on: August 7, 1981.
Elevation is: 75 metres.
The Northern Suburbs Crematorium tower (well it is really the chimney!) is the trig. The geometrical center is the aiming point. It is classed as a Passive Trigonometrical Station, that is that is is only used as an aiming point of known position as you cannot mount your instruments on it. This is usual with all such Trig as Church spires, transmission towers and other tall structures.
Logs
completed in the morning after going to the fish markets – needed to justify the unjustifiable road tolls that you pay so did a little caching in this part north of Sydney on the way home. What I have notice in the last 6 years they have removed the pipe work from the top – still an interesting area visited today – many thanks

I happened to be staying in the area overnight and after catching up with my daughter at the Comic Con and catching up with cachers at a GCNSW event, I went back to my moving castle but was bored. So I decided to see what GCA caches there were in the area. Seeing there were a couple nearby and having a car handy to drive around, I decided that would fill some time.
The Captain helped me find this one, pointing it out with his sword as we nearly drove past it. Thankfully the gates were still open around 5.30pm and when you turn to exit Cappie and I got a clear view. He seems to like his new shield, not that a pirate usually carries one. It suits him though as you can see in the pic.

Have driven up from Goulburn to spend the afternoon having a BBQ and walk along the river with a group of friends at Blackmans Park.
Our mission for the rest of the afternoon was to head to the oldest cache in Australia. Was glad to finally be where it all started.
Of course, I then couldn't resist a short detour for a few quick trigs. This was the third and final for the day.
Probably could have taken a better shot from around the back but didn't realise that when running up for a quick photo near the entrance so that we head home.

Out with JJCC and Lucky1955 on a cache run for the Anniversary of Australia's oldest cache. After picking up the virtual in Lane Cove park we travelled here for the Trig.

Out with Team Merlin & Lucky 1955 while in the area we payed our respects and claimed a GA. Today we found a total of six Trigs and a GA cache for the anniversary day. Nice quick find.

Out as a passenger with TeamMerlin & SplittyMiller JJCC. On this the Anniversary of Australia's oldest cache we were in Lane Cove park to pick up that virtual cache. From there it was a short trip across to here for the first of six Trigs and a GA cache for the anniversary day it is.

These passive trigs are weird - you'd certainly have to know all the details to make use of them for their original purpose
Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1063 - 10524 overall cache finds.
Found during a run up to the big Lane Cove Event with Sol de Lune, Toy Hunters and LuckyL10n when we decided to grab a bunch of trigs as well. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !
The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted.

#GA489 - 09:55; The day had arrived and it was up at sparrows to join toyhunters, fitzy_1965 and Sol de lune for a trip to Sydney for the 'Let's Party - Come Celebrate Australia's First' Event. After the early start we were approaching the venue in plenty of time, so stopped by to bag this trig on the way past. TFTC Geocaching Australia

Found with Sol de Lune, fitzy_1965 and LuckyL10n on our trip to Lane Cove for the birthday event. A lovely trig in a great area, to stop for a quick rest and stretch. TFTC GCA!

Fairly quiet at the crematorium on a Sunday with the carpark nice and empty to park and photos the chimney. Another trig ticked off the list!
Quick snap out with Zhaoy to claim the Hunters Hill Zone with some movables! Very well maintained place this, all trimmed. Dropped a movable nearby too.

Zal and I went out for a quick drive around to drop off some of our movables. Parked nearby and snapped a shot after exploring the graveyard for a while. Really nicely maintained graveyard.

The tower was easy to spot, and the pic was just as easy to grab. This is a nice cemetary (in as far as any can really be nice I guess).
Was down this way today so worth picking up the three trigs that are so close together. This one is a bit dubious, I'm not 100% sure about the ones that have nothing really to look at but if they are in the "Great Book of NSW Trigs" then that's good enough for me!
Have been to a few funerals here so it felt odd to come here for more pleasant duties.

Northern Suburbs Crematorium
The NSW Department of Lands has designated the top of the 'tower' as an official TS.
I was sad to visit here, because it's been the site of many funerals that I've attended over the past nearly 40 years. I remembered many friends, long gone.
But a trig is a trig and I took my required GCA photo from the lower driveway, without going near the chapels.
Thanks again to rogerw3 for re-discovering this trig and publishing it.

Drove up from the other two Trigs and drive right into the Crematorium. Was able to get the photos from the car.

Since I was in the area I thought I had better make the effort and take the needed photos of this unusual Trig. The walk along Delhi Road from the Lane Cove River is to be avoided!
I got the photos and decided I was not going to walk that road again, so I went to the bus stop across the road, a death defying act if there ever was one as you have a blind corner and traffic non stop both ways. made it in the end and waited for a bus, in the end an out of service bus stopped to pick me up, has as he put it "This is a shi*** stop the driver cannot see you until the last moment as he comes around the corner and most times cannot stop anyway" so he spotted me there and took me to Chatswood station on his way to start his shift. Thanks Mate!
