Description

Bulgo TS1234

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Bulgo.

Serial number is: TS1234.

Last Inspected on: November 24, 1980.

Elevation is: 292 metres.

This was a cairn type trig, it was unpiled in 1980 and a small concrete collar put around the plug. A steel tripod with mast and vanes was erected over the top. It's not far off the track but the bush is quite overgrown and there is no very clear way though

On a walk from Otford to Waterfall. Lovely day. Parts of the Coast Walk currently closed for repairs, so I had the track to myself.

Found whilst on a bushwalk from Otford to Heathcote with my bushwalking club. Great day out and always lovely to find another trig!

While being chased by lyrebirds I found this one. Remarkable that it was still standing!

Finally took the effort to walk to this one. A nice and easy firetrail stroll for about 2 km and a 50 meter bushbash at the end.

After a nice circuit walk along the coast with a nice side detour to trig, a bit overgrown with small vines at first but attack the trig at 90 deg it is only about 20 metres from fire trail with easy access from the farm car park Very Happy

It was a bit of a struggle but blossom* and I found this trig in the end, this was not made easier by the Leapfrogs hopping off into the vines, creepers and sundry bushes. We finally rounded them all up and they had a ball climbing the trig.
After a very pleasant walk the Garrawarra Ridge Trail we got close enough to know that we had to bush bash our way to the trig, unfortunately there was no easy way in all our choices led to impenetrable tangles of vines and creepers but lucky for us no brambles. In the end we decided to crawl into a likely opening under the growth and go around the obstruction and at last the old vanes came into view.
A sad sight really the tripod is the only thing holding the mast and vanes up as the base of the mast has rusted away completely, with care we could see traces of old markings on the vanes to confirm this was indeed the 'Bulgo' trig.

we grabbed all the frogs and made our way back to the car very satisfied with our find.

Yeah! After rogerw3 mentioned an expedition to find a lost trig, I was in Dancing We had a few different plans but ended up being able to drive to an old property called Garawarra (at least it's called that on the map). What a lovely spot to live.

ALL the frogs insisted on coming along to help so we set off on the walk along the easy fire train with 5 of them in tow. They kept hopping off ahead and then taking detours to the side all the time RibbitRibbitRibbitRibbitRibbit but we arrived near GZ fairly quickly.

The bush looked fairly thick, mostly due to lots of vines tablged everywhere so we walked past in the hope that a cleared path might be possible from there. But it wasn't. So we headed in and pushed around a bit with no luck. I only have 15 metres away on the gps but there was no sign of anything except vines. So we crawled under a pile of them in the direction of the arrow and picked our way around a few trees when rogerw3 spotted it! Dancing

Photos taken, the frogs all wanted to scale the trig to the top so we spent a fair while waiting for their shenanigans to stop before heading back to the car very please.
