Description

Broadway TS10624

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Broadway.

Serial number is: TS10624.

Last Inspected on: August 22, 1986.

Elevation is: 62 metres.

Passive trig Point, the tall antenna on top of the UTS building on Broadway near Railway Square in Sydney. There used to be a steel pillar with mast and vanes but this was removed as it interfered with the antennas and various aerials mostly placed there by the antennae laboratory of the UTS.

I took this photo from the powerhouse museum while looking for another cache.

Found with the geofamily!

30-Dec-18
Hard to get a good shot of this one, but we managed something.

13-Dec-18
Visiting the city to see a show at the Capitol Theatre.
Took the photo of the UTS tower from the train just after passing Redfern Station. That's about the best I think I could do to get a photo of the antennas.

12-Dec-18
Spotted this one from the train as we were heading into the city for a meeting. Luckily it wasn't to busy or crowded and we had the opportunity to grab a quick photo as we passed by.

In Sydney on a business trip (a very scary one; I was having my capability assessed!) and I decided to de-stress with some geocaching. I spent the whole morning walking around the city (the assessment was cruelly at 1pm! Get it over with!) and made my way to within view of this big tower. TFTC Geocaching Australia

Only a few trigpoints left in the CBD!

I’ve been passing this one for a while now but decided to give a different perspective, from the Ultimo TAFE campus. Some of the original buildings here have amazing decorative features. Shame it was a grey day and the photo isn’t so great.

15-Feb-18
Found, or at least sighted today as I wandered between appointments ClappingDancingMr. Green

A quick photograph and onto the next. TFTC.

09-Nov-17
Not often does it happen that I get seven GCA caches and just two GC caches. Well today it happened while I made the area around Redfern and Broadway unsafe with my presence.

High building! "Hi Dutchman"

03-Sep-17
Finally got around to logging this trig. The snap shot was taken on the 26th July when I was in Sydney for the day

Went right past this trig and came back here for shot. Smile

10-Mar-17
Visiting UTS and getting very close to the Trig.

16-Jul-16
Found with a few hours to kill whilst awaiting a connecting flight.

08-Jun-16
Grabbed this shot while in the area for a while.....bit of a distance photo, but it's up there.

12-Sep-15
Found with phlphotos on a great city caching day.

29-Aug-15
Found on a day caching in Sydney walking through this area was a little hard as today was the open day for the TAFE, UTS & Sydney Uni so spent most of the day walking against the crowd. Got to a spot where I could take this photo. Thanks for the Trig

24-May-15
#GA514 - 15:05; I had managed to find most of the CBD trigs on previous visits to the city, so headed further afield today to try for a couple more, along with some other caches in the area. I spotted this one from the bus stop near Central Station and took the snap while waiting for a bus back into the centre of town. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Thanks to my very good friend (He knows who he is!) I have been introduced to Geocaching and although I am not quite getting the caching bit I am however quite taken by the trigonometric Points.
Having heard my friend go on and on about their use and value as well as their history I have decided to log a few with my friend to hold my hand for now!

18-Mar-13
We were stating at the Citigate Hotel (Now the Novitel Sydney Central) and I wandered up to the 18th floor to get a shot of the Trig Point.

02-Jul-12
A while ago we put a laser link from the top of the UTS building down to the the UTS library. On Monday I had to go to the top of the UTS library building to look at one of the other links and grabbed this shot. Seeing as the phone was behaving as the GPS I couldn't get both in the one shot, but this was taken from the roof of the UTS library. Looks closely at the top verandah before the roof of the brown building and you might make out the far end laser head.

23-Jun-12
grabbed this one whilst waiting for a coach homeward bound.
hmm...ok, guess I'll consider it a trig then!

07-Jun-12
My first Trig since getting home to Australia and what an appropriate one as I spent 4 years studying below it. It may be a big brown ugly piece of crap but it was home Wink These snaps are from Victoria Park which gives a nice view.

01-Jun-12
Was on the way home from the airport and waiting for my next train on Central station when I realised I hadn't logged this one yet. It's very hard to see the top of this hideously ugly tower when nearby so it was a good chance for a shot. I always thought this would be a trig and I think I took a shot some time ago but could never find it now.
Anyway, tick off another one. One of the few I've been inside!

20-Apr-12
Took a picture as I approached Central then went looking for an animal. Thanks.

15-Apr-12
First of 3 trigs for the day while on a caching trip to Sydney.

I was actually looking for a good spot to photograph the Central trig when I realised I had a good shot of the UTS tower.

28-Mar-12
Found during a wet lunchtime trip to Haymarket

18-Mar-12
Found this one and took a number of shots, we will see how they go.

12-Mar-12
Found on a run to Sydney for family matters. I spent many a month here a long time ago doing courses. Easy to spot but hard to get a decent photo.

04-Mar-12
This time I got it. A distance shot though from the front of central railway. I know it's kind of cheating but considering some of the other photos I think for this trig it's warranted.

16-Feb-12
Always a bit tricky to geta good shot of this tower even though I work there from time to time. I was walking across the bridge to Tumbalong Park today and thought this was pretty good.

11-Feb-12
Bugger. Wasn't sure what building as the GPS wouldn't quite settle and wasn't pointing at the main UTS building. So based on the description of antenna I took a photo of the building beside it with lots of them. Seems I was wrong

02-Feb-12
GCA 456 - 4838. Visited a number of mainly Virtuals and Trigs during some spare time in Sydney over a two day period.

Another Trig on a Building I remember from the past !

TFTC !!

03-Dec-11
I had an hour to spare between finishing working here in the city and picking up my wife - also in the city. What else is there to do in that case but to grab a few caches - and virtuals seemed to be the best option today, as I am saving the newer traditional caches for the Christmas to Feb run when I have heaps of days to complete in my caching calendar.
5th of several for the hour.
The easiest spot to see this was from in the carpark of the Country Trains terminal.

27-Oct-11
Dang - I was up on the level immediately below the roof Monday last week and didn't realise I was standing under a cache. I wonder if the key they gave us would have got me up one more level? If coming from the north up Harris Street you spot a bright white laser unit pointing towards the ABC (actually past it to the UTS Library) that's ours.

Might have to find an excuse for a service call!

19-Sep-11
Found it today, on my way back to Central Station to get my train back to Lithgow, this is easy to see but not so easy to find a good spot for a decent photo, I ended up on the roof parking of the service station on Regent Street.
