This Steel Pillar with mast and vanes is on top of the number 1 air shaft tower of the West Cliff colliery. Most likely cannot be approached, but should be visible from a distance.

We were unsure about driving in here to locate this trig as we saw a sign saying "No Unauthorised Access" but we ventured in anyway, the photo was taken and then we had to wait for a procession of trucks to pass before we could get on the road again.
Despite the signs saying the road was for mining only, a trig is more important...so...

Just a quick detour from Appin road has you at the mine shaft. Good views of the trig from the road at a 200 m distance!
