I’m on my way to Canberra for a special event over the weekend. What better way to fill in my time then with Geocaching. I started with collecting the long overdue finds along the Barton HWY. Then I headed into Canberra for lunch and to host my event (GA14468) which had an unexpected turnout of 5 people. Big Grin Thanks for coming and allowing me to not be alone at the park. Afterwards I headed out to find some caches which I have wanted to make for quite some time. These included some past DNF’s as well as some regular/large sized caches plus ‘The Maniac’. (I’ve decided on doing one a day) I can tell you I’m not as fit as I once was I made it with a minute or two to spare. Unlike some of the others that had done the ride, I didn’t experience trouble with the cartridge and it came up with the right coordinates first time. Next it was time to settle into my motel plus have a shower. After dinner, it was time for some night caching! I found 5 Labs plus a couple of other finds which included the AL Bonus. I had an eventful day. Big Grin I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring joy to me and to the rest of the caching community. Big Grin TFTE and TFTC’s Big Grin

18-Apr-19
Very happy to say that I am running out of trigs in the Canberra area. Sad though, because the trigs here are the best. This is not one of them! But the area around it is great.

11-Apr-19
We were parked at the Peninsular to ride around the lake and what did I forget? ........ the GPS with GCA caches. Rolling Eyes Saw this on the iPhone map and thought it would be easy to find, especially after seeing photos. So our one GCA cache find for the day was Black Mountain Peninsula Trig.... can't bear to think how many we must have ridden past! Very Happy

03-Jan-19
Another great day out caching with Joolay after more points in the current game. Thanks to Minniek for the trail up Mt Stromlo and SDL for all his scattered around the area. We continued on and found a few trigs then topped the day off with a stash of movables. All logs were signed and cache returned to their hidey holes.

01-Oct-16
Not what were expecting but glad we found it

23-Sep-16
With a lot of landscaping and construction on the peninsula, I wore my work garb and blended in. It should be a good place to visit when the work is finished.

26-Jun-16
found on a wander around the peninsular - love the fluoro 'peninsular' pole

28-Jan-16
broke chain on bike. while awaiting support, I went down and collected this trig point

16-Jan-16
Last year mystery question was "why is there a pole with "Penninsula" on it? This year we have the answer!

30-Jul-15
Found today on the way back from a lunchtime cache run with Joolay. We pulled in and soon had the trig marker uncovered. Great to grab such a close easy trig. TFTT Smile

01-Jul-15
Went out with the geoson (Skypirate) caching and located this Trig around 6:25pm. Had just earlier located a GC cache. I still am affected by a cold and feeling miserable and tired due to some unusual hours at work as well I didn't want to have to do anything strenuous so the caches today were relatively simple ones to get to. Photos include the plaque in the ground before the trig pole and my GPS on the fencing. We had a nice moonlight reflection across the water nearby on the lake it would've been quite pleasant if the outside temperature had been a lot warmer.

24-Jan-15
A day for easy access trigs with the Geodaughter and this one fits that criteria

Came by today to fill in this gap in the area. Parked not as close as I could have but enjoyed the amble up to the trig. Great views from here on a bright, sunny and still Canberra spring morning. On a day like today you gotta love the trigs!
Cheers

10-Jun-12
One of the less-strenuous trigs around. It seemed hard to believe this is a trig, but the plate is there to prove it. I was greatly relieved to make a find, my strikerate wasnt good today.

Thanks rbirtles for the research

13-May-12
Another nice quick and easy one =) Handy when you are 9 months pregnant =)

448. Time to grab this one on the way home as I use Lady Denman Dr. Left the car running for FFP and McPhanKid as I sauntered up to the trig. Quick photo and then watched magpies bombing other black birds, poor things. Got a photo of them huddled under a low branch (I hope)

07-Oct-11
This was a really easy one to find, especially since the post marker has recently been repainted. And you can drive almost on top of it - great for a rainy morning on the way to work. TFTT Smile

06-Oct-11
*FTL* (First to Log) rather than a *FTF*

Found this trig after exploring http://www.actmapi.act.gov.au/ for unregistered trig sites. The ACT Survey Database states that it is still registered as a trig point so I thought that it be best placed on GCA as a physical presence can still be found.

A nice place to visit as well. Photos to be uploaded tonight.
