We tried heading north today to escape the rain and partially succeeded.
A nice dry walk up the pier followed by a very wet walk back to the car.
Not the most impressive lighthouse we have seen but the history of the walk out to it makes up for that.

#GA5247 - 11:55; In Newcastle with the geohoney for a few days and despite the strong breeze, we decided to head out for a stroll along the breakwater. Unfortunately the area close to the lighthouse isn't accessible today, but managed some clear shots from below. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out touring on the motorbike for a few days solo, although it is far more challenging trying to navigate to trigs on the motorbike I couldn't resist grabbing a couple on the way past. had to stop in Newy and see the beach as it was such a beautiful day. Heaps of people out enjoying the sun. nice and easy one to find unfortunately the walk way up was closed today

I love lighthouses.. and it’s a Trig! A nice day out here today. There’s also an excellent Earthcache nearby. I dropped in here during a drive to Brisbane. Thanks for the cache Smile

Headed up to the Morisset/Newcastle region with fitzy_1965 & albida33 to do some GC caching. Picked up a few GCA's along the way.

Amazing views from up here.

July 2018 Weekend trip to Watagen National park for the Lake Macquarie History series with Fiztzy_1965 and MinnieK.

After finishing the series we went to Newcastle for an event and were able to visit bout outcrops and collect the trigs and virtual caches.

Thanks

We saw this in February 2014. We had been camped at Booti Booti NP and heading home. Set up camp at the Stockton Beach Holiday Park for a couple of nights to do birdwatching around Newcastle. Saw the lighthouse from the Shipwreck Walk. TFTT

Sunday's are the day for this one.... it's a tough bike ride up that hill....

While staying near Newcastle we went on a GCA cache finding tour around the area and this lighthouse trig was one we found. The required photo has been added to the gallery. This lighthouse point is a stunning area to visit. TFTT

Easy to miss this icon with the lighthouse cache so close ..... and though the lighthouse might be close it wasn't happening for us. A far off shot with a fuzzy old iPhone lens was as good as we could get today. Confused

13-Jan-18
We were unable to get much closer today as the area is only accessible some Sundays.

28-May-17
Beautiful Sunny Autumn Sunday. This location is only open to the public on Sundays from 10 until 4.

04-Apr-16
Going on a jog to capture the trigs around east Newcastle. Run past it so I can enjoy the view from the end of the breakwall

23-Jan-16
The gate was closed and although it would have been easy to access the area, I had to set some kind of example for my children. So I took the long shot and left the other one up there for another time.

27-Nov-14
While walking out on the southern breakwall I thought I would also get another trig. It seems that it will be a while before it is going be opened up for the public, but those being 'assisted by' Corrective Services will be working there for a while yet.
Took some photos from below.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1006 - 9807 overall cache finds.

Found during a caching run around the Newcastle region. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

This one was a nice quick 'find' and a photo taken and posted. Great views ! Love the Lighthouse !

I don't know if I was supposed to be up here or not today, but the gate was open, so it was open slather as far as I was concerned. Or maybe it was only open because there were some works trucks going up and down the hill?
Anyway, I was there and managed to get a couple of shots of the hill.

01-Sep-13
A fluke that we were here on a day it was open. Had a lovely wander up to this one and then continued on out to the end of the breakwater to grab the GC cache there. Thanks, a very busy place today but didn't feel odd taking a photo of this one.

Out on a Trig raid in Newcastle this is Trig number #2 for the day.
Unfortunately you can only get access on the first and third Sunday of the month so until then only a distance shot is possible. Still a very nice old Passive trig Station.

Like the others could only take from a distance as closed off. Sign at bottom stated open 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, so was an unlucky Sunday Crying or Very sad ...would be interesting to visit. Still a pleasant walk and continued on to do the breakwater cache.

Came past here on the way out to the south entrance on the harbor. A sneaky traditional cache is close by too and the one out at the end is also worth it.

16-Nov-11
As the lighthouse track is closed to the public this was the best and closest shot I could get this afternoon.
