#GA5253 - 11:15; Day 2 in Newcastle with the geohoney and I set off early for a spot of caching around the CBD before we headed north to Nelson Bay for a bit of sightseeing. Picked up some Adventure Labs and other caches around the CBD before heading back to Fort Scratchley this morning for the two trigs located there, which were missing from my original PQ for the trip. Grabbed a couple of snaps here as it wasn't clear to me which one was actually the trig. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

14 years in Newcastle and I've never visited the fort until today, to find the trigs of course. Great spot, awesome views and a cannon firing to top it off.....

had a great time here at the museum. sadly we missed out on the Canon firing sure to a fire ban so the lovely volunteer have us a tour in the buggy instead.

Today we visited Fort Scratchley and located the corner of the building that is designated as the passive Trig Point. However we found two objects closer to GZ that the building corner and wondered if they were related to the Trig Point. Photos of the two objects have been added to the Gallery. Thanks Geocaching Australia for the cache.

I'll delete my previous find as that object is a flood light. Now attached is the top of the building.

I think this is the trig point. The listed coords maybe off. But will run up to check it out.

24-Jan-16
I went on the Newcastle East Heritage Walk so searched for geocaches in the area. Just before stop number nine, at Parnell Place. Don't Blink

23-Jan-16
The area was closed until 10 am, so I had to get a long shot.

27-Nov-14
This would be the third time I have attempted this trig. So last time I took better note of when Fort Scratchley is open to the public.
It is closed Tuesdays, and otherwise open from 10am to 4pm, with various times for guided tours of the Tunnels, etc.
After getting permission to photograph a State Survey Marker between a couple of cannons I went on to photograph the passive point for this trig.
Giving it a Difficulty of 1½ as it is not available 24/7; mind you I am not 100% sure that the access that wheelchair friendly with I think a step in the way or a steep ramp.

Well worth going up and reading the history of Newcastle

Interesting time had here today. An unusual trig and the one to Mrs Beetle's left. Thanks.

Out on a Trig raid in Newcastle this is Trig number #4 for the day.
I was very glad to see Fort Scratchley open to the public again, this made taking the photo of this Trig very simple indeed.
Nice old Passive Trig Station.

One can only assume that this is a chimnet masquerading as a trig point.

After going on the excellent Fort tour went up to grab this and the Parade Trig. Strange a chimney is a trig, anyway some great views here.

14-Mar-12
Found on a late afternon=on trip into the city for dinner.

What a great museum / site.

02-Jan-12
found while visiting the Fort. Nice old fort with a bit of fun history regarding the event when the enemy submarine turned up in the harbor and they didn't manged to get a good shoot on them. Go up and in if you have time well worth it.

05-Nov-11
Found this whilst out geocaching for the afternoon.
The trig is exactly where described but it is not a traditional trig.
There is a chimney sticking out the top of the building.
