We tried heading north today to escape the rain and partially succeeded.
A quick drive by trig on the way home. The trig is quite big up there on top of the reservoir.

Love a drive by trig!!!
This one was a bit different than your normal watertank trig too.
All you can see in our photo is the black top of the trig with the supports disappearing as we neared.
Thanks.

Really needed to have my son with me to get a decent photograph, rather than an impossible selfie, which ended up being just of the trig, and my thumb. Good to have another of the more local ones 'ticked off'.

Great view from the nearby lookout!!! Clan Cerberus

We had gone out to find a nearby new GC cache, so had to find a trig too - this trig is pretty standard, but there are some great views just a 2 minute stroll along the track from it. 4 thumbs for the views.

Found easily. Took a walk top the jumping spot. Also bush bashed trying to find an archived Mix cache. From the cache logs years ago, a lot has changed where the cache was hidden. We didn't find it. Sat and enjoyed the views for a while though. I remember as a kid the beach below was known as poo beach because you had to watch where you stepped walking along it.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1019 - 10149 overall cache finds.

Found during an early christmas trip to Newcastle. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

This one was a nice quick 'find' and a photo taken and posted. This Trig was just down the road so an easy find !

Just as we arrived the rain belted down. This was taken from inside the vehicle and I still got wet.

26-Jul-12
Grabbed my photo from just the down the street.

Spotted okay, hard to see once you get too close. Nice looking water tower, shiny, unlike the usual boring concrete ones.

Quick find this morning before meetings in Newcastle
Even though it is a water tower, this was an excellent spot.
