Got the bike out today for the first day of spring and thought I would head up Bell's Line of Road and bag a few Trigs. It was a little cold still and there are still some areas around Blackheath and Mt Victoria that are closed due to the fires over the Christmas period but a great day all round. this was another place I have been before but at the time I did not realise that this pillar was also a trig. nice little hidden rest area and a cool monument to the road builders

On our way out to the Coxs River Road, we made sure we grabbed what trigs we could get to.
What a beauty this one is....

Luckily I put these coords in my car GPS or I would have driven straight past it. A walk around while here. TFTT

Found this one on a trip out to Bathurst.

#GA2412 - 11:30; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. Pulled over here for a last trad and trig in the Bluies for this visit. After grabbing a nearby trad, this was a pretty quick park and snap to round out our visit. Easy find! Beautiful day for caching in the mountains; visiting from Perth WA.

28-Jun-17
Stopped for a snapshot as I passed through the area.

I had taken a photo of the housing of the Scar Tree from the highway a while ago, and may even had a glimpse of it back in 2015, but dropped by on my way home from an Event Lake Lyell to get a decent photo (or two).
Found @ 1848, as it was getting a bit dark, from being overcast.

31-May-15
found on the way out to Jenolan Caves for a day bushwalking & caching stopped for this on the way up.

Really enjoy exploring around here after The Bluie event.
Interesting place to visit here.
thanks

Stopped for this one on our way west. Last time I stopped here, the monument wasn't a trig.

This is a nice spot to stop although I don't think I've ever done it. A beautiful day at the end of true summer. Great views of the green valley below. Got the shot of the obelisk. The tree nearby is interesting too.

I call this 2 logs for the price of 1 visit, logging as a GCA Boyce Blackheath, New South Wales, Trig & a Waymark Mt Boyce Obelisk, Blackheath, NSW – completed - thanks

Here a few times before, and did not realise monument was also a trig point ... great valley views from nearby.

20-Mar-13
An interesting trig. Love the history with this one.

Driving past towards Mt Wilson, a quick stop and pic.

13-Jan-13
a quick lunch break

Found while attempting some of the BMPT and GC caches in the area.
I have not heard of a monument as a trig before, but there it is.

Found on the way to FYAOAL with AlfyBoy.
This brought back great memories of many days spent climbing on the Mt Boyce cliffs.

15-Jun-12
This is one of the more unusual trig point markers we have come across. It is in a significant location as it marks the highest point on the road across the Blue Mountains. The photo added to the Gallery shows one of us at the trig point/obelisk.

26-May-12
1 of three trigs on the way home today.

25-Mar-12
On the way to Sydney for family and work commitments and just enough spare time to grab a trig or 2 on the way.

26-Feb-12
Catching a few BMPT GCA caches, this trig was close, so another picture was taken. Different Trig.

28-Jan-12
GCA 367 - 4713. Sol de Lune and I attempted the Blue Mountains Power Trail this weekend - along with other GC, GCA and trigs caches - a great couple of days !!

Another Trig find as we made our way up the Mountains on the Power Trail. This one was a bit different !

TFTC !!

Another trig along the way....although this one was a little different.

22-Jan-12
a strange trig certainly found on a GCA power trail weekend from Canberra along with Tankengine and Albida33

22-Jan-12
This trip was planned from when the trail was published, but it took till now to get a common free weekend. Most of the caches were simple and well placed. A few were more difficult. The places visited were interesting and all in all Mtrax, Tankengine and I had a great time, even if a bit wet and foggy at times.

Thanks
Albida

One of my favourite types of trigs!

01-Jan-12
This is a top Trig. The highest point of the highway over the mountains and not too far off the highest point overall... that is on the Jenolan Caves road and has a GC and Earth Cache "GDR1250".

Having completed the BMPT and several of Rog's other Trads I was all up for some nice easy drive by Trigs on the return trip Very Happy

With a record for GCA finds in a day from the Blue Mountains Power Trail, we stopped off at this trig to add to our numbers. It's a rather interesting trig as tronador said, being the highest spot in the mountains

01-Jan-12
Now I normally am not interested in trig hunting, but this one really was very interesting. It is an obelisk and marks the highest point of the GWH. Now that is really cool, especially since this has been here for a very long time and the early explorers figured this out.

04-Nov-11
With my new shorter afternoon Friday caching time, I just gad time for a quick upper mountains run.

Third of three quick photos.

An interesting an unusual find with pjmpjm today. This monument has been used as a trig point for over 80 years. The now more prominent radar tower is not and has never been used as a Trig.
A very interesting history lesson if you take the time to read the plaques on the monument.

Arrived at the well-known spot and car park on a rainy afternoon, together with rogerw3, and was amazed to see an obelisk!

For some reason, I had it in my head that this passive trig was a radio comms tower. However, rogerw3 pointed out that the nearest similar structure -- the famous radar -- isn't actually registered by the NSW Department of Lands as TS.

But the 1931 monument has been in use as a trigpoint for about 80 years now. So there you go! Interesting place, even in the mist . . . It's of course the highest point on the Great Western Highway.
