Description

This Trigpoint has a magnificent view of the ocean at South Evans Head. Located in a small park.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website. If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Travelling back to Sydney from a trip to K’Gari for a week It would have been a crime for me not to stop and grab some trig stations in some of the amazing beach towns on the way through. They definitely did not disappoint me and made for a very enjoyable couple of days.
Evans head is a beautiful beachside town, I stayed the night here and really didn’t want to leave. Great trig with an amazing view out over the water in all directions

It’s a public holiday in my work region in Queensland today so I decided to hit the road to visit some Trigs. This one was a definite for today as it’s a weekday so less people around. Weekends in areas like this are awful in my opinion haha. A few minutes from GZ I drove past what looked like some sort of datum marker. I must stop! Turns out it was a time capsule placed on 30th October 1988 to be opened 30th October 2038. I would love to know what’s inside Smile

When I arrived I parked in the last available spot. It was busy. There were muggles everywhere. It was a challenge to get a decent image but I eventually got one. I also took some of the nearby anchor for a locationless cache I have noted. Now it’s time to get out of here!! Thanks for the cache Smile

we were on a drive from Lismore and found this trig point TFTC

As soon as we got up here I realised we'd been here before. It was in our early days of caching before we knew about GCA and trig points.
We weren't missing a logging opportunity today!

The trig point is located in Razorback Lookout overlooking the ocean and headland. The lookout is a nice spot to come for a family picnic. There are many sightseers out for the day. The town is a popular place for holiday makers especially over the Christmas period. I will have to come back another day and enjoy the view.

Going through some old photos and came across this little gem with geohubby in the picture. Hope this qualifies for a find.

Beautiful weather to be out and about trigging. This was day 5 of my COVID October tour.

Note: Photo didn't load with log through app. Photo lost.

Our only cache in Evans Head today. Pretty sure we have been here before though although nothing looked familiar.
Then crossed the road to the lookout where no whales were seen today. Had spotted some earlier though in Ballina.
Thanks.

#GA2737 - 12:10; Day five of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After a night in Ballina, the plan for today was to cache northward through Ballina to Byron Bay and then on to Kingscliff before turning south for home through Bangalow, Evans Head, New Italy, Yamba, Maclean and on to Kempsey for another overnight stay. After an early start, we hadn't gone far up the road when we saw evidence of a heavy shower not too long before we got there, so we seem to have dodged a bullet and got packed up with fairly dry gear. Following a successful run through to Cape Byron, we continued our journey along some interesting and at times rather rough roads before getting to the highway and on to Brunswick Heads then Kingscliff. Another hiccup after we started the trek south again when we missed the turn off into Bangalow due to older maps and newer roads. Now headed well south it was time for another detour in to Evans Head to visit the trig and grab some fish and chips for lunch! TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Day 5 of the trip up the NSW coast with LuckyL10n after the Morisset event. Today was from Ballina to Kingscliff and back to Kempsey. A few more caches grabbed, with most being trigs...

Another great spot to find a trig.....fantastic views over the Evans Head beach. Well worth the effort to get here off the highway.

Thanks for yet another trig...

Late this afternoon we visited Evans Head and located the Evans Head Trig. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: the identification plate and Mrs y'stassie standing next to the Trig Point. Thanks Geocaching Australia for the cache.

Surprised that I haven't logged this one from an earlier visit. We stopped here for the well-hidden GC very nearby.
We found Trigonometric Station TS6777 Evans Head in good condition and it retains its alloy nameplate. It was last surveyed on December 4, 1976. There should be a witness mark, in the form of a copper spike, 8.53m away at about 330°M but we didn't look for it this time. The Garmin had S29° 6.926' E153° 26.363' on the day so quite close.

We'd come down to Evans Heads to check out the F111 Museum and had lunch on the headland with a bunch of Ge-Gnomes we picked up from Ballina earlier in the day.

Thought I would take a photo of the trig with the three gnomes. As others had said, the view from this spot is pretty terrific.

Thanks for the trig.

Without much money for petrol I was a bit more cautious as to how many trigs I would try to find on the way home. This wasn't too far from the route home anyway. The drizzle stopped long enough that I was able to get the photos even tho it was 2053 by the time I got here.
All good with the trig, even having a name plate.

We were in Evans picking up some caches so we just had to come up and check out the views while we were here

A regular visitor to Evans Head and this lookout, this trig was an easy one to come and 'find' once I realised it was another trig point I had yet to log. Top spot! Cool

What a stunning lookout Very Happy Weather clear and sunny. Trig found easily enough, nice to get a traditional one I can touch instead of the water tower type that have had lately.

Went with MattyRX to get a nearby puzzle cache. I nabbed this trig point while I was waiting for the ladies to be vacated. What a brilliant view from the nearby viewing platform.

I was in the area for work, and was up at the lookout trying to find another cache - but there were too many muggles at GZ. On my way back to the car, I saw the familiar shape of a Trig station. Yet another one with fantastic ocean views.
