Description

Furracabad TS10549

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Furracabad

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills and this one is no exception. Located on a hill overlooking the town of Gulgong, it provides a fabulous panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. There is a road right to the top and you could park right next to the pillar if you wanted. The black disc on the top has gone which seems to be pretty common on TPs that are easily accessible.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself.

This trig can be seen from the highway where the co-ords were taken. It is on private property & sits in the homestead's front yard.

Would be cool to have a trig like that in the front yard Dancing
Thanks for the cache Smile

Spotted on our LGA hunting drive from Inverell to Tamworth, Kyogle and back to Armidale.... Shot from across the road.

You don't see many houses with a trig point in the front lawn. At least it looks like it is well cared for.

Thanks for the trig point listing

I've passed this before, but being up on a hill in someone's front yard, I'd ignored it for dZ. But wanting to see if I can move the control of this dragonZone into Griffin's claws, I thought I'd add my distant photo to the gallery of the same here.

easy shot from the main road.

Managed to photograph this one as we drove northwards.

Another quick photo grab as we are making a dash to visit friends in casino. Thanks for publishing this trig Geocaching Australia. A really interesting location for a trig, or should that be a funny place to build a house? Clan CerberusClan Cerberus

The property has been sold and the gate is closed but you can still see it,
up on the hill just in front of the house. Wink
Thanks GCA

Fancy having a trig like this in your backyard! We snapped a pic from the driveway. It was found very easily. Try saying the name of this cache fast 10 times - it difficult to pronounce without it sounding like you're swearing! Great trig, and that's 3 of 3 Glen Innes trigs checked off my list.

Another quick photo find on the way to the Sunshine Coast. This one was right next to a house. TFTT

While on a circuit to replace a muggled geocache north of Guyra I stopped by the road, and took a zoomed photo of the Furracabad Trig. I wasn't quite game enough to walk on up and see if there was a name plate on the concrete 'hotine-style' trig. There is certainly a place for it.

#GA2988 - 08:15; Day two of a trip to the Gold Coast and after a quiet night in Glen Innes, I headed off to grab a couple of the local trigs. After an unnecessary climb up to the top of the hill for a trig and the local CORS, this one proved a bit easier, although the signs at the gate made it pretty clear that a snap from the road was the best I'd get, so that's what I did! On our way back to Nanango Qld aznd last night we stayed in Armidale. On the road early and did swee this one from the road so parked fin the best spot I could find. I do not have a camera with a good zoom capability so took the best photo I could. TFTTP.

Fun garden ornament. Different view of a trig than normal. TFTC.

10-Apr-15
We saw this trig on the way into town and came back prior to leaving to get the photo. The trig is on private property but can be photographed from the road.

Heading south from the mega event on our way back to Sydney, while we didn't have to make it in one day and in fact only got as far as Gloucester before a big storm rolled in it was never going to be a big geocaching run, just a chance to add some more dots to the map rather than trying to hit every cache along the way.

Overshot this one as I thought it would be closer to the road, but backtracked to make the find with the zoom lens showing the trig in front of the house.

Driving past towards the Stanthorpe Mega and grabbed a photo of this one....

North Qld 2013. On my rushed drive south there was just time for a few virtuals. Thanks

03-Jul-13
Tempted to drive up and make some excuse to get a closer photo but in the end just took it from the road like everyone else. Thanks.

15-Jan-13
Well that's as close as it gets to owning your own trig! We've driven past here plenty of times and never noticed it.

30-Dec-12
Spotted on my way south today. Traffic was light so no issue getting some pics today.

06-Jul-12
We felt a little uneasy logging this cache as we could not get that close to it although we had clear vision. The photo added to the Gallery contains two images: a photo from the road showing our GPS and the trig point in the background; a closer view of the trig point.

A little tricky to do as parked just off the highway, so quickly snapped it and went. House has a good view of this trig.

06-Apr-12
A quick stretch as we fiddled with cameras and gps by the road

06-Apr-12
Found with blossom dodging the traffic Smile

14-Dec-11
Saw this a few days ago & took the opportunity of adding & finding it today. Not much room to pull over so look around & make sure the highway is clear of semies.
