Description

Bicentennial TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Unknown 'Bicentennial' is used for convenience.

Serial number is: TS number is unallocated.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 42 metres.

There is no record of this trig being recorded by the Department of Llands, however it is not possible to categorically say that it is not a trig, so when in doubt...

While Munzee Placing and Caching in Bicentennial Park today I took in the splender that is the Treillage, the largest of the viewing towers in the park. Then something struck me... at the top, apart from the flag, was the distinctive 4 quadrant Trig Plates! This has to be one of the most impressive Trigs in Sydney hehe. It make sense, it is the highest point for miles around, and the whole structure resembles a trig. Not sure if it is "Official", I'll leave that work up to the experts) But damn me if it doesnt deserve a listing! :D

First Spotted and Listed by Zalgariath

31-Dec-18
A day in the west looking for trigs.

11-Jan-18
Out caching with ziggiau raiding Rookwood and Homebush for States of the Nation points. Ths was find 8 of 11 for the day.
With a number of multis, a couple of puzzles and now a moveable found today the goal was now to get six different types. This trig would be our fourth type. A different type of trig to usual now to climb to the top for the GC cache.
Required selfie attached.

Not an unfamiliar location but it wasn’t until Nessell mentioned that this was a Trig that I realised there was a find to be had here. An overcast day made for an average photo but another cache type that will be used for a subsequent locationless.

After visiting the Women's Adventure Expo, or whatever it was called, I decided to find a few geocaches whilst in the Park. I only managed to get to 2 GCA traditionals, 1 GC traditional and this trig. I was exhausted from the heat and wrong footwear. I wish I wore shorts and thongs. Haha. Required selfie attached.

Passed by here after attending Hillsong Conference.

30-Oct-16
I was working in the park today so I thought it was probably time I logged this one. This is the view from round the back.

Found it Very Happy headed off to the 'big smoke' this morning to collect an item we purchased, and of course that meant geocaching as well. Found this Trig with no problems. Clan Phoenix

This shows that someone out there understands how important these things are. Rather than remove it pave over its site...build a bloody tower and put the vane on top. Excellent! Now...where is the pin?

24-Dec-15
I remember climbing up this as a kid. Cool to see it again.

23-Jun-15
Found it there is a lot of work being done to the place.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1074 - 10548 overall cache finds.

Found during a run up to the big Lane Cove Event with Sol de Lune, Toy Hunters and LuckyL10n when we decided to grab a bunch of trigs as well. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted.

Thanks Geocaching Australia !

#GA500 - 16:15; The day had arrived and it was up at sparrows to join toyhunters, fitzy_1965 and Sol de lune for a trip to Sydney for the 'Let's Party - Come Celebrate Australia's First' Event. After the early start we had plenty of time, so we grabbed three trigs on the way in. The event was drawing to a close, so our intrepid band headed off, but had allowed time for a few more finds on the way home, including this one and a few earthcaches too. We overshot the runway on the way in, so headed to the brickpit first, then called by on the way out again. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

All the display boards have gone now from the tower! A pity! Let's hope it was an organised remove, and they will be replaced by better ones.

21-Nov-12

We'd been up on this tower last year and discussed whether this was a trig or just decoration and decided on the latter. I remember these structures going up in the 80s when the park was being created.

Some weeks ago we were out at the park as the Olympic cauldron had been lit for the London games so during a Munzee hunt we grabbed this one.

Anyway it's since been published as a trig so it MUST be a trig!

28-Apr-12
Completed as the sun was just rising in the morning, at this time of the morning it was very peaceful place to walk around, thanks

21-Apr-12
have walked post this many times and not spotted the structure on top. Took the photo today while collecting munzees around the park.

12-Feb-12
Found with Just a cacher on a run through the Olympic area.

15-Jan-12
While looking for lots of froggie hiding spots, we dropped by to capture this "surely it's a trig" spot

15-Jan-12
Yes, it looks like a trig to me Very Happy As Zal says, when in doubt.... Dancing

03-Jan-12
Found while at the ZEAMMAFF event, there is some doubt as to whether this is a trig or not, certainly there is no TS number or name recorded by the Department of Lands, but it is sufficiently trig looking to be uncertain as to its status.
I would be inclined to keep it as a Trig until it can be proved not to be.
Good find Zal.

A quick walk from the nearby event and a photo was taken.

Found, photographed and logged at the fabulous ZEAMMAFF Event! at Concord West, NSW!

Lots and lots and lots of Leap Frogs and gnomes in attendance!

But is this really an official TS, registered with the NSW Department of Lands? We'll wait for rogerw3 to investigate . . .

Sure does look like a trig, though . . . Great place to visit.

Anyhow, thanks to Zal for making it all happen on the day!

Shocked Couldnt believe my eyes when I saw this rise before me. Must have climbed it dozens of times, but it takes a Geo-eye to spot the important things... like the 4 quadrant trig marker on top of the tower! Very Happy Just in time for the ZEAMMAFF event here on the 3rd Dancing
