Receiver Type: LEICA GRX1200+GNSS

CORS station, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

This was tricky to get a car in here, as the place was PACKED with buses blocking the road. In fact I had to go out against the arrows as buses completely blocked the road, and they didn't appear about to move on soon. Big queues of people waiting to board, but not boarding...a little weird.

#GA2355 - 13:10; After weekend caching around the Macquarie region, today I was headed for the hills for a few days with the geohoney relaxing in the Blue Mountains. After collecting a couple of caches closer to sea level, spotted this one along the way up the hill, so stopped off to grab a snap as we passed. Entered the carpark and found myself going against the flow, so quickly found a parking spot and covered the last few metres on foot. The CORS was easily spotted and I soon had the required snap. Quick stop in Springwood for a bite to eat on route to Dubbo for work. Probably the closest I've gotten to one of these things, they are usually up high!

12-Jul-14
Wrong side of the tracks...but I was looking for (a late) lunch.

No problems withe the photo, just into the sun...but you can see the CORs ok.

02-Apr-14
Well I know what a CORS looks like so it was a case of follow the navigator, park and go look. This one looked a bit bigger than some others I've seen so easy to get a shot over the fence.

23-Jun-13
Steady rain and a wait alongside a busy highway, till a dash to ... well, an unmissable CORS.

18-May-13
Well the final trig for today and an interesting one at that.

27-Dec-12
Searched for this months ago without luck because not knowing what to look for. Meanwhile old ans wise and quickly located

As I never searched for this trig the first time, I had no idea what I may find anyway. Thanks to Rogerw3 with his research and new data, this trig lives on as a first for me modern day trig mast. I would have never knew this was it. A few locations to get the photo of the trig. I took my one from the car park looking just over the wire fence.

06-Sep-12
looking for some caches to do in my lunch break I saw the photos of this one and did it while at the station waiting for the train home. First time I have seen one of these.

12-Aug-12
Yep, easy to find when you know what you're looking for Very Happy . I would never have guessed that this thing was the trig, so thank you to rogerw3 for researching this one & working it out.

10-Aug-12
A quick find, when you know what you are looking for, to end the working week.

10-Aug-12
Drove here with rogerw3, and it was -- right where we were searching some time ago!

We just weren't expecting this amazing high-tech trig . . .

An easy find, and the car park was very quiet in the middle of a week day.

Thanks to rogerw3 for re-discovering it, and for giving information about the CORS technology.

In light of new data recently found, I felt that this station was indeed there and sure enough it is, the GPS receiver antenna is the trig point which is continuously monitored to within 2 centimeter accuracy. By triangulation with other CORS Station it is possible to get sub meter accuracy in the field with the proper instruments!

08-Aug-12
With new data recently found this is not the common Trig Station, but a CORS Station. Which mean that we were all looking for the wrong thing!
The GPS antenna with its hemispherical protecting dome is in fact the Trig Station. These provide accuracy of 2 centimeters.

22-Mar-12
This one is no longer in existence.

22-Mar-12
Unfortunately pjmpjm and I did not find this Trig, there seems to be no doubt that the car park covered and destroyed the Trig.

22-Mar-12
Stopped by this location with rogerw3 today, on our way to a trig hunting expedition north of Richmond, but could find no sign of the old TS.

20-Mar-12
Judging from the satellite photo, I think there's a good chance that this one survives as a 'PM style' hatch just off one of the car park spaces. Seems worth another look. Thanks to rogerw3 for the publication.

20-Mar-12
Stopped off here on my way home. There might be something left, but you will need to chose your time to search carefully - the area the GPS was pointing to was covered in cars mid afternoon. A weekend would probably be a better time to look.
