A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

MrT and I were at Bathurst for lunch with rogerw3, and decided to do a drive to check out the Macquarie Woods Forestry Reserve. Saw this trig on the map not far before the turnoff.
Overgrown area made it hard to spot, but found an area between the trees. TFTT

We stopped to look for this trig on our way to Parkes from the central coast. Trig is obviously out of bounds due to it being located on private property but is still quite visible and looks to be in good condition. TFTC.

#GA2426 - 14:55; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. After reaching Bathurst we headed off to have a look at the Mount Panorama circuit, stopping for some trigs along the way as well as at the top of the mountain Dancing A few more stops as we passed back through the town and the highway for Orange. This was one of the stops along the way. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

A quick stop on the way home from Dubbo. The fence line offers a good vantage and today was nice and clear for a quick snap!

Mudgee trip 2013. It was very foggy and the trig is behind trees, so this image is the best I could do here. Thanks

Like others, we couldn't get past the fence, and the fog today made it that litle bit harder. As the trig is located near the water tank and you can see the water tank through the fog....the trig is on the right hand side.......just through the tree's.

Thanks for another trig...

bikerbuddy was looking out of the car window as we drove home & spotted this trig out the window. He assumed it was on the database, but it wasn't on my GPS & we realised he had discovered a previously unknown trig.

The trig itself is on private property, but can be easily seen from the fence next to the highway. Easier to see driving east (if you're not driving) but easier to stop going west.

I spotted this trig purely by luck as we were drivng back home after a long caching trip that took us nearly as far as Wilcannia. The trig can just be seen from the highway (best to look when you're not driving. We stopped on the side of the road and ducked across the highway. It would probably be smarter to do this one when driving west. Because of the private property issue we took the photo of the trig at a distance on the legal side of the property fenceline. It can be seen sitting on the ground next to what looks like a water tank.
