Logs
Mum was doing some shopping nearby so we Dad and the eldest decided to go for a walk, and picked up this GPS on the way past.
Nice old buildings around here.
Dad felt pretty awkward getting the photo as he had to climb on top of the brick fence to get the correct angle, which was right next to the police station.
After taking the shot we made a hasty retreat.

I am staggered at the changes in Hornsby. I used to walk up here every Friday when I was a kid. No not to the Police Station though I did visit it once to obtain my licence, but down in the gully behind the Church where the Guide Hall used to be. TFTT Geocaching Australia and the numerous memories.

After dropping off my boys at school I decided to go for a jog, and headed towards Hornsby. I wasn't completely sure what I was looking for, so have matched what previous finders have photographed TFTT
I struck it lucky here and got an hour's free parking outside a cafe. Then I went for a walk around the building until I spotted the GPS. After which it was back to the cafe for a hot chocolate, sitting at a table beside my car. TFTC.

While playing the GCA summer game, I realised there are lots of trigs that around the area that I haven't yet been to. It's time to remedy that.
This one took a bit of tracking down. I got one pic from the Westfield carpark roof and another from the TAFE grounds. The antenna has changed to a larger version since rogwerw3's photo. In the full-definition pic (too large to post) it's edge is clearly marked "Trimble GNSS". The current name for TS10955 is "Hornsby CORS".

On a caching run with phlphotos and JJCC and stopped by find this elusive trig. Eventually spotted from the opposite side of the road standing on the steps at the TAFE.

I wandered through the rain until I too like those before me found that the steps of the TAFE are the best place to spot this one. I should have read the old logs! Just spotted out the back of the building. I was glad I had confirmation of what it was we are looking for here!

pretty sure I found it. couldn't see it until I stood on the concrete steps outside the tafe. it may be possible to see from out the front of the courthouse as well but the sun was right behind it when I was there so I'm not sure.
1528 While I had lived in the area back in the 80's and found most (if not all) of the trigs shown on the 1:25,000 topo maps of Hornsby (9130-4S), and Cowan (9130-4N), I don't remember this one showing, but with the technology I am not at all surprised.
The photos has a mast partly obscuring the GPS part, as I wasn't sure at that time what was the aiming point.

Took a few minutes to spot it, but eventually managed to see the top of it and then moved back to expose a bit more of it. Tricky little trig....

I've had a few goes at this one, but never quite found the right angle - or when I did the iPhone just wasn't going to cut it for the photo. Took the good camera with me today, and found I could get a shot from the elevated area in front of the TAFE over the road. Another possible area for a shot would be the stairs between the platforms at the northern end of Hornsby station though I haven't tried this personally.
Found today, I did have trouble but my guardian angel pointed it out to me and sure enough there it was. Tricky to get a decent pic.
